Her pink slit pupils watched Kabe's eyes with obvious interest as she continued,
"For someone like you, Kabe, you already exceed the standards by which our dragon race chooses mates.
But what stirs my curiosity even more is the fact that you are from another race.
Since the birth of dragonkind, I have never heard of one of my kin joining with another species.
That makes me curious, and willing to offer myself to try.
I want to see whether this human body I shaped for myself can truly bear children with you in the normal way."
When Kabe saw Selene lick the corner of her lips with that pink tongue after saying such words, a chill suddenly ran down his spine, and the hairs on his arm stood up.
'Wh-what exactly does this count as? Human? Furry?
Why does this feel strange no matter how I look at it?'
For some reason, Kabe suddenly thought of the great lizard-riding ancestors from his previous life.
Back then, he had never imagined he would one day end up standing in their shoes.
'So I am Third Brother now?'
'No, wait. Selene's true form is more foxlike, so...
There had been snakes, ghosts, immortals, and insects.
So adding one fox-dragon to the list should not be that strange, right?
With so many great examples to draw comfort from, Kabe suddenly felt much better about all this.
Of course, all those thoughts flashed through his mind in no more than an instant.
To the three women watching him, Kabe only seemed briefly stunned before he suddenly grabbed Selene's hand and declared with complete sincerity,
"I feel exactly the same. For the harmony between humans and dragons, I will naturally devote myself with everything I have!"
At once, Selene's eyes widened slightly.
She had assumed Kabe was only talking big, and that the moment she got serious, he would back off.
She had not expected him to agree without even a moment of hesitation.
Still, Selene did not regret it.
Everything she had said before had been her genuine thoughts.
Since Kabe was willing, she naturally had no reason to reject it. At worst, she could simply treat it as an experiment in biological diversity.
The child of a Saiyan and a dragon...
That sounded terrifyingly powerful already.
Although Selene loved imitating human ways of life, her nature was still that of a dragon.
And so, no sooner had the two of them confirmed their new relationship than she immediately pulled Kabe along, eager to get straight to the main event.
No matter how much Irene and Brandish tried to reason with her, neither of them managed to stop her.
At best, they only convinced Selene to move the location from the living room to an actual bedroom instead of doing everything right there in the open.
...
The bedroom door slammed shut with force.
Left behind in the living room, Irene and Brandish could only stare at each other.
Before long, the two of them began hearing sounds they definitely should not have been hearing.
Even Irene could no longer keep her expression under control. Muttering curses under her breath, she turned and fled from the estate in a hurry.
Brandish's face turned bright red as well. After spitting hard at the tightly shut bedroom door, she decisively ran out after Irene.
This battle between man and dragon continued all the way until sunset before it finally came to an end.
Taking advantage of the fact that Erza, Mira, and the others had not returned yet, Kabe summoned Aries and had her clean up the aftermath.
Selene, draped only in a loose white robe that hung open at the chest and revealed of snowy skin, sat with one leg crossed and leaned lazily beside the dressing table. Watching the flushed-faced Aries quickly changing the sheets, she unexpectedly spoke.
"A Zodiac Spirit, no less. I did not expect you to be a Celestial Spirit Mage too."
Kabe had just come out of the bath.
A towel was wrapped around his waist, and he was wiping his still-wet hair with another cloth.
Looking at Selene, who seemed perfectly fine aside from her slightly flushed cheeks, with not the faintest sign that she had just gone through such a fierce struggle, Kabe could not help inwardly marveling once more at the absurd vitality of dragonkind.
"I would not really count as a Celestial Spirit Mage. Aries is the only spirit I have a contract with.
At the same time, she is also my paid housekeeper and head maid."
As he said that, he gestured toward Aries and introduced her.
"Aries, this is Selene, my newest companion."
The moment she heard that, Aries immediately paused in her work and gave Selene a respectful bow.
Selene, for her part, was also quite polite toward this spirit lady, who looked soft and fragile, but whose true age might be several times greater than her own.
She nodded back to Aries with a perfectly respectful expression, showing not the slightest trace of contempt.
After that, Aries continued tidying the bed sheets and blankets, while Selene turned and began examining Kabe from head to toe with obvious curiosity.
Kabe was left baffled by the scrutiny.
She had already seen everything there was to see, and everything there was not supposed to be seen, just a short while ago. What was there left to find so interesting now?
"What are you looking at? Is there still something about me you want to study?"
Selene blinked, tilted her head, rested her cheek against one hand, and asked with complete honesty,
"You should not have any magic power in your body, right? In that case, how exactly did you summon Miss Aries?"
Kabe blinked right back at her, then slowly spread open his palm toward her.
Selene glanced at the rather fair palm in confusion. Just as she began wondering whether she was supposed to place her own hand on top of it...
A change occurred.
