Cecelia frowned as their vehicle made way into the estate of her supposed in-law, her father beside her and her brother in the passenger's seat.
"I'm really not liking this." Cecelia said with folded hands. "And I still can't believe you agreed to this madness Kofi."
"If it's worth it, you look really pretty right now." Her brother said jokingly and she scoffed, but a small smile formed on her lips.
There was probably no turning back now.
The car parked in front of the mansion as they all step out one by one. Ceceila looked at the environment around her. She was fascinated. Class and elegance could be seen from every area, from the flower path entrance to the massive Manor before them.
Was she marrying into a Billionaire family or what?
She noticed a lady standing at the entrance of the door. A beautiful one at that.
"Welcome, welcome." There was a bright smile on her face as she made her way towards them. Cecelia watched the elegance that wafted off of the mature lady, dark brunette hair that rested on top of her shoulders, her bright green eyes had a bright glow to them and the golden necklace and earring that adorned her body.
To say the least, she was gorgeous.
"George, it's lovely to have you here. I'm glad you could make it." She hugged the older man. Before moving her gaze to Cecelia.
"You must be George's precious flower I see." She moved to embrace Cecelia in a hug she wasn't expecting.
"And you must be my dad's lovely friend." She managed to form a smile on her lips but it wasn't compared to the woman's smile.
"Indeed I am. And you're even lovelier in person my dear." she said and Cecelia felt slightly bubbly at the compliment, considering the looks of the person it came from.
Let's all head inside shall we."
They had all settled in the massive and exquisite living room. Ceceila sat beside her brother the entire time.
"Your father has told me alot about you dear. And I apologize greatly if this news came to you as a surprise." Her voice was calm.
"Um.. I wouldn't say I'm completely comfortable with the idea I'd say. Probably because I've never met your son before." Ceceila told her honestly and Agnes nodded.
"I get that a lot my dear. But I assure you, my son can be the absolute best, although he can have an attitude." She chuckled at the last part. "And I apologize again that he isn't here. He said he had a meeting to attend but will be here soon. Don't worry."
Cecelia nodded as she held her knee. To say she was nervous would be an understatement. She felt her brother hold her hand tightly and he smiled. She's sure he could tell she was nervous and she gave him a smile.
"While we wait, I'd love for you to meet my daughter. Um.. Nadia?" The lady called out and immediately a maid appeared. "Please get Chanel, could you?"
The maid bowed before leaving. They wait for a moment before Cecelia begins hearing footsteps down the stairs.
"Mum, Nadia said you called." A young lady called out as she descended the stairs and got closer into the living room. The young girl's eyes immediately landed on everyone present in the room but Cecilia noticed it stopped on just one person — Kofi.
"Yes darling, I'd like to introduce you to some set of very important people." Agnes said.
Cecelia examined the girl and saw she was an exact replica of her mother. A younger version though. Long dark brown hair, bright green eyes and light colored skin with an amazing body.
It seemed looks run prominently in their family. Cecelia thought.
"This is George Martins, my long-time and very close friend. That's his very handsome son over there— Kofi. And our princess over there is Cecelia."
Finally, Chanel's eyes moved and locked on her.
"She's your brother's fiancee."
Cecelia felt weird hearing that out loud especially as she watched Chanel turn to face her body immediately.
"Who? Brother got engaged?" She didn't sound pleased
"Indeed. And you can see a very beautiful one at that." Agnes said with somewhat pride in her voice.
Chanel turned her attention back to Cecelia, scrutinizing her with a sharp gaze. "I see." A scowl formed on her face.
The next moment, we hear the sound of a vehicle parking.
"Ohh, that must be him." Agnes said and Cecelia felt heat begin to form in her palm. It felt like she was running out of breath at that very moment as she began anticipating the person her father had given her out to.
Deciding not to stare, she looked down at her knee the moment she heard the sound of the door open.
"Good morning mother." She heard his deep smooth voice and it made her swallow hard.
"I apologize to everyone for my tardiness. I had a meeting to attend."
Ceceila paused for a moment. That voice!
"It's alright son." She heard her father say.
"Alright darling, you can say hello to George's daughter over there." Agnes said.
Ceceila felt the palpitating of her heart as she looked up. The moment both their eyes locked, she immediately rose from her chair.
"What exactly are you doing here?" Vince asked as his eyes pierced deep into her head.
Please no!
She turned back to her father, "Dad, can you explain what's going on please?" Because she was already panicking at the moment
"Well my love, this is my son. Vincent— Vincent Quinn. He's the one you're engaged to."
At Agnes' word, she felt her heart drop and she looked back at Vince who looked like someone just surprised him with terrible news.
"What do you mean she's the one you're setting me up with? Is this some kind of stupid prank or something?" Vince sounded angry. It obviously took him by surprise as well.
"As you can see Vince, no one is interested in pranking you here." Angnes said, her voice turning slightly serious.
"Dad.." Cecelia moved towards her father. "You knew about this didn't you? I know you know who Vincent is, Christ you're well aware of my relationship with him." She said as she could feel everything crashing down one after the other.
"Yes my dear. Your father told me that you work for my son here." Agnes suddenly said and both Vince and Cecelia's attention moved to her
"Worked." Vince corrected.
"He fired me." Cecilia added as Vince passed her a sharp glare.
"So what, you got engaged to a mere staff Vince?" They heard Chanel say with a scoff.
"Stay out of it." Vince warned. He turned back to his mother, "This arrangement is not going to work." His voice was dead serious.
"What if the news reaches the press Dad? Did you even think of any of that?" Ceceila asked.
"All that shouldn't bother you sweetheart." Agnes said as she stood up. "Let's all go have lunch now shall we?"
With that she began to make her way out of the living room. Chanel passed Cecelia a bitter look before following her mother. Her father followed as well. It was herself, Vince and Kofi left in the living room.
"Um, I'll leave you two." Kofi said as he left as well.
Cecelia could feel her breathing pause. How did her situation turn into this?
