Chapter 61: Finding Lei Bao Through the Back Door
After getting Qin Ming's approval for a three-month leave, Yu Tianlin returned to Thunder Academy with Ye Lingling that very same day.
By the time they arrived, it was already quite late. The academy grounds were quiet, the paths empty, and the night wind cool.
Yu Tianlin's goal was clear. Instead of going back to his own dormitory, he took Ye Lingling straight to the dean's apartment to find Vice Dean Lei Bao and, frankly, go through the back door.
The lights in the dean's apartment were still on, which meant Lei Bao had not gone to rest yet. Yu Tianlin did not need to worry about disturbing him and went up to knock on the door.
A maid opened it. When she saw that the visitor was Yu Tianlin, she naturally bowed.
"Young Master Tianlin. You are here to see Dean Lei, correct? He is in his study on the second floor. I will take you there."
Yu Tianlin nodded. "Yes. Thank you for the trouble."
The maid smiled politely and walked ahead to lead them in. Although she was a little curious about Yu Tianlin bringing a girl to visit Lei Bao so late at night, her professionalism kept her from asking anything.
Lei Bao's apartment was quite large, so he had several servants helping manage it. Along the way, they encountered a few more staff members, all of whom bowed to Yu Tianlin. He nodded back one by one.
When they reached the study on the second floor, the maid knocked three times. Lei Bao's voice came from inside.
"What is it? Come in."

Yu Tianlin led Ye Lingling into the study. Inside, Lei Bao was sitting behind his desk, holding a book in his hands.
"Tianlin, it's you?" Lei Bao looked up, a hint of surprise in his eyes. "What happened? Your teachers have all reported that you haven't attended class these past few days. If I hadn't received news that you were safe, I would have thought something had gone wrong."
Yu Tianlin quickly explained, a bit embarrassed, "Uncle Lei, these past few days I went to Heaven Dou Royal Academy to visit my older brother. I didn't ask for leave beforehand and ended up making you worry."
"I guessed you had gone to find Tianheng. Seems I was right."
Lei Bao nodded as if it were only natural, then turned his gaze to Ye Lingling standing beside Yu Tianlin.
"And this is…?"
Yu Tianlin hurriedly introduced her. "Uncle Lei, this is Ye Lingling. Her Martial Soul is Nine Heart Begonia, and she is a rank twenty three support-type Spirit Master."
Ye Lingling bowed slightly and greeted politely, "Greetings, Dean Lei."
Lei Bao pondered for a moment, then raised his eyebrows with a half-smile.

"I thought it was something serious."
Lei Bao chuckled and pulled out a form from his desk drawer. He quickly filled it in, then stamped it with his vice dean seal.
He handed the document to Yu Tianlin. "Take this to the dormitory manager and have him assign you a single room."
Yu Tianlin glanced over the contents, then stored the paper in his dragon-patterned ring.
"Thank you, Uncle Lei. But there's one more thing I need to tell you."
"I'm afraid I won't be attending many classes over the next three months."
"No."
Lei Bao cut him off immediately, his brows knitting together.
"Little Tianlin, everything else is fine, but skipping classes indefinitely is not. If your grades are too bad, I will not be able to explain it to Mingfeng."
"Uh, Uncle Lei, it really won't be a problem."
Yu Tianlin tried to persuade him. "Honestly, I already know almost everything the teachers teach in class. I learned it back in the clan, so going to class now is mostly just review. Skipping a bit won't affect me much."
"Besides, I do have important things to work on during this time. I plan to fully familiarize myself with my self-created Spirit Skill, Thousand Birds, and find ways to integrate it with my Spirit Ring skills."
He did not mention Rasengan at all. If he brought up developing another self-created Spirit Skill, he would have to explain too many things, which would only cause trouble. Using Thousand Birds as his excuse was simpler.

After taking Lei Bao's document to the dormitory manager and having a single room assigned for Ye Lingling, Yu Tianlin finally returned to his own dormitory.
To be honest, after spending the past few days almost constantly at Ye Lingling's side, suddenly parting ways made him feel strangely empty.
However, he quickly pushed that feeling aside. Starting tomorrow, he would officially begin working on developing Rasengan.
