Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Melody's POV

After four hours of non cleaning I finally collapsed onto my bed. My back ached from all the scrubbing and my hands felt like that they being through battle. Even my head was spinning like the whole world was turning inside it ready to burst out. I stared at the ceiling breath shallow, muscle heavy.

Everything hurt.

But at least the room was spotless.

My eyes fluttered shut for just a second and I whispered to no one in particular.

"Remind me never to do that again".

My body refused to move but my mind did not get the message. Instead of resting it wandered to more stressful thoughts.

Money.

I had to use my money for important stuff but the main source that sucks the big part is tution.

$11K per term. Please Donald Trump I am just a little kid. I pulled my phone and opened my banking app, almost to afraid to look.

Balance: $100K.

Damn. At this point I should start looking for a job right now.

Reality hit me hard. If I didn't do something soon, I wouldn't just be broke. I'll be hungry.

Luckily I was told to pay $10K per year so it is just remaining six months left before my next due pay. And there is no way I'm calling Uncle Marcus for help. Not after the last call I had with him.

I slowly sat up, rubbing my dimples. My head throbbed but my pride burned hotter.

I needed a job.

Something part time and flexible. Anything that doesn't involve me in selling my soul or scrubbing other people' toilet.

With a deep breath, I grabbed my journal and wrote one sentence at the bottom of my to-do list

"Finding a job ASAP"
