Chapter 45 - The Favor

A few minutes later, the group of four arrived at Allen's exclusive room on the 200th floor.

Before he could say anything, the straightforward Gon immediately asked, "Can you teach us that power called Nen?"

"Oh? So you already know about Nen?" Allen was slightly surprised but quickly countered, "Why me? You should know I'm not a qualified teacher, and my teaching method is extremely simple and crude."

"Because you're strong! We watched your match with the Floor Master today!" Gon stated his reason without hesitation.

"Hahahaha! Just because I'm strong? You haven't changed at all; you're still a single-minded boy living in his own world," Allen laughed, sighing with emotion.

Truthfully, Gon, as a protagonist, was certainly an anomaly among the countless Japanese anime protagonists.

He was established from the beginning as having an incredibly powerful father. But compared to protagonists in One Piece, Naruto, or Bleach, who start out seemingly ordinary but are actually "cheaters" with extraordinary origins, Gon has practically never truly received any special care from his dad.

Forget special care; Ging even told Razor on Greed Island to beat his son half to death if they ever met, and when his son was later lying in a hospital bed wishing for death, Ging didn't even visit, let alone treat him.

It really made one question if this father was biologically related.

Most importantly, Gon was a typical self-centered, obsessive personality. Once he set a goal, he would never give up due to external factors.

Quite the opposite.

He would go to any lengths to achieve his goal, even if the cost was worse than death.

Coupled with his tendency to act rashly without considering the situation or his own circumstances, often putting his friends and companions in danger, he was, strictly speaking, a classic "team liability."

Yet, it was precisely this tenacity and focus that allowed him to erupt with unimaginable power at critical moments.

Even more terrifying, just when you were fooled by the innocence and kindness he showed daily, he could suddenly, at a certain time, reveal an extremely ruthless, bloodthirsty, savage, and brutal side, like a demon.

Having grown up in the great forest, he actually held no concept of good and evil or morality, adhering fundamentally to the jungle law of the survival of the fittest.

As Allen stroked his chin, lost in thought, a hint of disappointment gradually surfaced on Gon's excited face. "Is it not possible?"

"It's not impossible, but doing so would waste about two months of my valuable time and disrupt my original plans. Based on the principle of equivalent exchange, you must offer something as compensation." Allen directly stated his condition for exchange.

"Can money work?" Gon proactively held out his bank card.

"Sorry, money is meaningless to me," Allen chuckled, shaking his head.

"Hmm..."

As Gon sank into thought, Killua immediately stepped forward and probed, "What exactly do you want then?"

"It's simple. I want you to owe me a favor, which you must repay when I deem it necessary. Don't worry, I won't ask for anything unreasonable or beyond your capabilities, nor will I ask you to do anything like murder. Well, if you agree, I can grant you the ability to use Nen right now."

While saying this, Allen looked directly into Killua's deep-blue eyes without flinching.

"Alright!"

After much consideration, Killua felt there was no issue and quickly nodded in agreement.

"I agree too!" Gon echoed.

They probably thought the request was not at all excessive, but rather a huge bargain.

But for Allen, this was a massive gift package delivered right to his door.

After all, his favors were not so easily repaid...

Once the agreement was reached, Allen immediately fulfilled his duty and responsibility as a teacher. He instantly opened the Aura nodes all over their bodies and, in a very short time, taught them Ten, one of the four major fundamentals of Nen.

Feeling the life energy circulating around his body, Killua could no longer contain his excitement and delight. He grinned and said, "So this is Nen! Now Illumi won't be able to control me easily like before!"

"No, compared to Illumi, you're still far behind," Allen scoffed, interrupting the boy's fantasy.

"Why not? According to you, only Nen can fight Nen. Now that I've learned it, Illumi doesn't have the same advantage over me," Killua challenged, frowning.

"It's true that only Nen can fight Nen, but you must understand that Nen has strengths and weaknesses. Also, based on personality and life experiences, Aura attributes are divided into six types: Enhancement, Transmutation, Emission, Conjuration, Manipulation, and Specialization. Based on these characteristics, everyone can develop unique abilities. You two are just beginners right now. You are far from the level of Illumi or Hisoka in terms of Aura capacity, the application of various advanced techniques, and the development of your own unique abilities."

Allen sat in his chair, sipping juice and dispensing basic knowledge about Nen to the "rookies."

He wanted to prevent these two troublemakers from being foolhardy and challenging 200th-floor fighters the moment they learned the basics.

"Hmph! It sounds complicated!" Killua pouted, dissatisfied.

But he understood that this was all crucial knowledge and information, and he quickly committed it to memory.

In contrast, Gon's reaction was more headache-inducing.

After briefly testing the destructive power of his fist while wrapped in Ten, he immediately asked, "Allen, I want to register for a match against a 200th-floor fighter tomorrow, is that okay?"

"If I say no, will you listen?" Allen sighed, somewhat helpless.

"No!"

Gon gave a crisp, negative reply.

"In that case, Bodoro, you go register with Gon later and spar a practice match with him. Remember to hit him hard, give him a good lesson, and let him understand that the world of Nen is not so simple."

Realizing that persuasion was useless, Allen directly issued instructions to the martial artist standing behind him.

Since he couldn't change the stubborn nature of a "problem child," a healthy dose of "social beatings" would have to suffice.

Anyway, as long as he wasn't killed, a single healing potion would be enough to get him bouncing back.

"Understood!"

Bodoro nodded slightly and turned his gaze to Gon, who was radiating intense fighting intent. "I apologize, but you should prepare to be beaten tomorrow. I won't be holding back."

"Good! Please give it your absolute best!" Gon replied excitedly.

Especially in his black eyes, there was not a hint of any other emotion, only intense curiosity and anticipation for the match tomorrow.

Killua was clearly aware that his friend was in no danger of dying in this fight, so he still wore a relaxed expression and asked, "What about me? When can I step into the ring and fight a 200th-floor fighter?"

"For you, about two weeks should be enough. Of course, that's provided you develop an ability suitable for yourself; otherwise, you might suffer a great loss against certain opponents."

Allen quickly finished the juice in the can and casually tossed the can into the trash bin.

Undoubtedly, he had a completely different philosophy from the methodical Wing when it came to teaching Nen to beginners. He preferred to quickly impart all the knowledge and techniques to the student at once, allowing them to rapidly form combat effectiveness.

As for the fundamentals, that could be left up to the individual's self-discipline and daily practice. There was no need for constant supervision like with a child being watched by a parent.

Learn first, then perfect—this was his personal understanding of learning Nen.
