Chapter 119: Cleansing

The other dementors stopped their approach and watched Harry carefully.

There was a soft white glow emanating from his hand, and it was clearly hurting the dementor he was holding. "It works, but…"

He had deconstructed the Patronus Charm so it could be channeled differently, without the need to create a physical 'protector' to face the creatures.

However, much like the normal charm, this was only causing minor harm and making the others want to stay away from him.

"Needs something stronger. And for that, I'm going to need a lot more magic."

The energy particles in the castle's vicinity were too scarce at the moment. Harry had used most of them to create that pocket dimension, and they would probably take days to be restored.

Harry closed his eyes and focused. His senses expanded further until they covered the entirety of England and then kept going… Ireland, Spain, France, Germany, Denmark, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Mediterranean Sea.

Once he felt it was enough… he pulled that power toward him.

A beam of pure white light broke through the roof of the castle and reached Harry.

The dementor he had been holding was instantly disintegrated by the sudden burst of energy.

This wasn't just pure magic but a new spell that Harry had constructed with it. It was a grand-scale release of positive energy capable of annihilating all dark creatures in the vicinity.

"Lux Patronum Maxima."

Soon after the first one fell, the rest of the dementors became affected by Harry's magic.

They had no time to escape. The burst of magical energy happened too quickly and too suddenly.

In a moment, they became enveloped by the light, and their ethereal bodies were dismantled until nothing remained of them.

The audience watching from the ground was not able to see much. The column of light that Harry had summoned was so intense that they were forced to look away and cover their eyes.

However, they could feel the comforting warmth emanating from the positive energies of the spell, and they instinctively knew that it was not going to harm them.

When the light finally disappeared, there were no traces left of the dementors. Hundreds of the creatures had come to Hogwarts, but none had left.

Azkaban was going to need new guards.

Harry descended slowly, looking at the group beneath. He was relieved to see that everyone was still alive and no one had suffered any serious injuries.

He landed and noticed that they all were looking back at him with shocked expressions. "Ehm… sorry it took me so long. But it's over now."

"Over?... but." Bill glanced up and was surprised to see the sky. There was a gaping hole that had somehow gone through all seven floors of the castle. "What was that?"

"Something new," responded Harry. "I destroyed the dementors."

"That's…" Tonks stopped. "I was going to say that's impossible, but then again… much of what I have seen you do should be impossible."

"What about the giants and the trolls?" Arthur Weasley asked. "They were trying t—"

"They are gone." Dumbledore removed the stone wall he had created for their protection. "I can see that now."

Hogwarts appeared to be in complete silence. The army that Voldemort had brought here was now gone.

"And… the Dark Lord?" Dumbledore asked Harry. "Is he…"

"He is not coming back." Harry didn't feel like elaborating further at the moment. He was sure that the Headmaster was going to be asking him for the details later on.

"Is it over then?" Molly asked. "Is it really over?"

"It does look that way," said McGonagall.

"It's strange, isn't it?" Bill commented. "It all happened so suddenly that…"

"It doesn't feel real. I know what you mean." Arthur tapped on his son's shoulder.

"Right?" said Hagrid. "One moment, I was shooting bolts at those bastards, and then… they were all crashing onto the floor and cracking their necks."

"No need to be so graphic, Hagrid," Molly complained. "We all saw it happen." She grimaced, looking away from the corpses.

None of the Death Eaters appeared to have survived falling from their brooms after Harry stunned them.

The moment of serenity had suddenly been interrupted when a big chunk of stone fell onto the floor.

Molly yelped and took a step back.

"Ehm… maybe we should move away from here," Bill pointed out. The hole that Harry made with his last spell had damaged the structure of the castle even more than Voldemort had done during the beginning of the battle.

"Merlin! I'm so sorry about that." Harry looked apologetic. "I wasn't thinking about the damage that my spell was going to cause to Hogwarts. I was just trying to make sure no dementor could escape."

"It's okay, my boy. Hogwarts has survived many battles like this one in the past and will continue to do so. The walls and floors can be repaired."

Dumbledore said. "Although it would take time to fix all of this…"

"Wait, let me try something," said Harry. He could still feel many of the magical particles he had brought here. Only around half of them were used for the Patronus spell, so the rest were still here.

"I can use that…"

Harry closed his eyes and focused on wielding that power again. This time, he would use it for a different type of spell.

He raised his hand, and all the runes on his body glowed with intensity. "Reparo Fundamentum!"

Under the baffled expressions of those present, the castle started to repair itself.

All of the broken pieces of stone went back to their original places, reforming walls and roofs.

The torn carpets, shattered windows, and wrecked decorations all recovered their pristine appearances.

In less than a minute, the castle now looked as it did before the battle started, and perhaps even better. Everything was spotlessly clean and shiny.

"Harry…" Molly was the first one to speak. "Can you teach me that?"
