"How the hell would I know? I've never fought her," FrostNova wheezed, clutching her chest.
Talulah: "So what now? We can't beat her, can't run, Patriot's pinned down too."
FrostNova shot back instantly. "Are you the leader or am I? Why are you asking me?"
"We're discussing options." Talulah broke into a sprint. FrostNova split the other way.
A beam of black energy punched through the wall where they'd just been.
Talulah fled, glaring at Amiya.
How did it come to this?
Even Talulah couldn't say.
Rhodes Island was a medical company. They and Reunion had cooperated before.
Talulah's impression of them had been good.
But then one day—Rhodes Island changed.
More precisely, every single person on Rhodes Island was controlled.
By a machine called PRTS.
Their mission to cure disease became a mission to eradicate all Oripathy-infected.
Talulah still didn't understand how a machine could control so many people.
But thinking didn't help now. They had to stall until reinforcements arrived.
Talulah unleashed a wave of searing heat, but black energy skewered straight through it, blasting toward her. She dodged desperately.
The beam punched through countless buildings.
Talulah swallowed.
If that hit her, she was done.

She looked up.
Catastrophe clouds were gathering.
Once the disaster descended on the city, the damage would be unimaginable.
Talulah and Reunion wanted to stop the chaos, but they couldn't.

Yu Jin watched the three operators strip themselves of armor and weapons. He lifted a hand to stop others from helping.
He wanted the EXP to himself.
Feeling those weak punches against his body, Yu Jin grinned.
Weak. So weak.
Like a cartoon thug, he snatched Blaze the cat-girl, slammed her to the ground, and began tying her up with rope. The other two tried to help—couldn't even pry his hands off. They only stared hollowly as their companion was bound.
"Heh heh~ Your turn next. Thinking of running?"
Yu Jin lunged at Nearl.
Nearl threw a punch; Yu Jin caught it casually, pinned her down, and tied her up too.
"…We're the good guys, right?" Doctor asked blankly.
"Obviously we're the good guys!" Star said as if insulted.
"Look, we already arrested those evil Rhodes Island folks! Right, boys?"
She raised a fist at the Reunion members.
"Yes, Boss Star!"
"Yu Jin-ge pressed Rhodes Island under him! Yu Jin-ge is unbeatable!"
Doctor: "..."
It had been an hour. What the hell had you people done to them?
Yu Jin finished binding everyone and stood up, pleased. He patted Blaze's very shapely backside like a job well done.
"OK, done!"
"What a thrilling battle," he declared, wiping imaginary sweat.
Kevin returned, dragging an operator.
"Then tie this one too."
"I'll do it!" Star leapt in with a smack, grabbed the rope from Yu Jin, and went to town.
"So what's your situation, exactly?" Kevin asked Doctor. He still had no clue what was going on.
Doctor repeated what Masked Kevin had told him.
Yu Jin knew the "wild history" already, but hearing it again, yeah… still wild as hell.
"So you're heading to Talulah, right?" Yu Jin said.
Doctor nodded. "We need to see what's happening. She'll have more intel."
"Then let's go." Star dusted her hands off.
Masked Kevin moved up quickly. "Yu Jin-ge, Boss Star, Doctor, Kevin—um, we should hurry."
"Why?" Star asked.
"Because the weather's awful. Is that a thunderstorm?" Kevin frowned at the sky.
Masked Kevin shook his head grimly. "No. That's a catastrophe. We must leave Chernobog before it falls."
"It's deadly."
"So we're out of time. We have to find our leader and break through Rhodes Island's blockade. With you all here, we'll definitely make it out this time!"
Star: "Then what are we waiting for? Lead the way!"
"Leave it to me!"
