Leonardo's POV
I stayed silent, which pretty much confirmed what she was thinking.
"Then forget it. Do you honestly believe you're worthy of me?" Veronica's bright eyes locked onto mine, cold as winter frost.
A bitter taste flooded my mouth. I felt like a complete fool. Years of searching, years of waiting for her, only to discover she'd transformed into someone I barely recognized. The sweet, gentle girl from my memories was gone.
"You've really changed. I still remember you from back then—soft-spoken and compliant, telling me you'd always see me as your savior."
"People evolve."
She turned away, staring into the distance.

"I was gentle and obedient then, and you were caring and protective. Now you're reckless and obsessed. Tell me you haven't changed too."
