Veronica's POV
"Quick, get the doctor!"
The bodyguards scattered in panic.
Watching Bernard writhe in agony, I could only beg desperately, "Bernard! Hold on..."
There were still so many answers I needed from him. I couldn't let him slip away now!
Bernard convulsed violently, like someone in the grip of seizures, his consciousness clearly fading.
Leonardo grabbed his arms, trying to stop the thrashing, while my worry intensified. What I was witnessing didn't look like typical gastric cancer symptoms. This seemed more like organ failure of some kind.
A young man burst through the door, everything else forgotten the moment he spotted Bernard's distress.
"Dad... Dad..."
I went rigid, recognizing him instantly. The same person who'd been secretly leaving blue jacaranda flowers for me.
So he was Bernard's son?
Footsteps thundered in the hallway as medical staff rushed inside. We all moved back to give the doctors space.
