Veronica's POV
"I don't remember," June laughed nervously.
"Since you can't recall, let me refresh your memory," I said evenly, pulling out a document. "Professor Fabian organized a fundraising drive for me, and Kitty maintained the records. Everything's documented here."
"Twenty-one classmates contributed to help me, but June, your name is nowhere to be found!" I continued, keeping my tone measured.
I remembered vividly how June had publicly shamed me about borrowed money during my darkest hour. She'd acted like she was lending me cash, then later claimed I'd stolen it from her.
That betrayal had carved a wound in my heart that would never fully heal.
I'd never forgotten those who stood by me during my struggles, and I'd equally remember those who trampled me when I was already down.
When our eyes met, June seemed to remember those days, but she quickly looked away, visibly uncomfortable.
