lan glanced my way, and the moment he spotted my barely perceptible nod, he demanded icily, "Some mystery contact? Who are we talking about? Be specific!"
Just as lan suspected, Rodney wasn't the elusive Luca that everyone had been buzzing about.
"I have no clue who this mystery person is," Joe wailed, tears carving tracks through her ruined makeup. "All I can tell you is he's from Dasmiecia, but he stays hidden abroad... That's literally everything I know, so please don't hurt me anymore!"
Her pathetic performance was so obviously fake it made me want to roll my eyes.
lan never went easy on women, especially ones putting on such a ridiculous show.
He didn't hesitate before swinging the metal rod her way. "You think spouting vague garbage will get you off the hook? Where's your dignity?"
Still, lan showed some restraint. He targeted Joe's back—a spot that could handle punishment, agonizing but unlikely to cause permanent damage.
