Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 Joint Dark Energy Operations Base

"Yes!"

The familiar voice made Black Widow feel a surge of excitement.

This was not about getting a reward; it was purely because she had won a battle on behalf of her superior.

"Well done, Agent Romanoff." Nick Fury nodded in satisfaction from the side.

At the same time, he was filled with emotion.

He recalled how Black Widow, a notorious executioner from the Red Room, had once been one of Nick Fury's targets for elimination.

Nick Fury had dispatched his most trusted confidant, Hawkeye Barton, to carry out the mission, but after a confrontation with Black Widow, Barton did not kill her.

Instead, he recruited Black Widow into S.H.I.E.L.D.

Who would have thought that the very person he had once wanted to eliminate, now, like Barton, had become one of his most loyal and reliable right-hand people.

"Nick Fury, how can you even smile? S.H.I.E.L.D. has been seriously negligent! You lost the Tesseract!"

Iron Man's jarring voice rang out, as he mercilessly criticized Nick Fury.

"Stark, you can't accuse me of something that hasn't happened. At least for now, the Tesseract is still safely stored in S.H.I.E.L.D.!"

Nick Fury retorted without ceremony, "And I will make sure this doesn't happen in the future!"

"How will you ensure that?" Iron Man gave Nick Fury no face whatsoever. "Since you dispatched the Avengers to find the Tesseract, that means the one who stole it isn't an ordinary person."

"It's very likely the Chitauri! Nick Fury, this is a matter of great importance concerning Earth's safety!"

Nick Fury was somewhat speechless this time.

If it were an ordinary Earth power, he was confident and fearless.

As long as he increased personnel, provided strict protection, and raised the security level to a certain extent, then basically no organization could steal the Tesseract from the base.

But if it was an alien force, he really had no confidence at all.

Especially since the Chitauri were a race that had mastered space technology; that was not something that could be solved by simply adding more personnel.

If it really was the Chitauri, it would indeed be very troublesome.

"Nick Fury, let me get involved in protecting the Tesseract! I can turn your base into an impenetrable fortress! You need my technology now!"

Iron Man earnestly suggested to Nick Fury from the side.

Nick Fury was indeed somewhat tempted; if it was Iron Man, the security level within the base could indeed be fully upgraded.

This was a good thing.

"We'll discuss this in detail after the Q&A ends." Nick Fury nodded, still as usual, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.

"Congratulations to contestant Romanoff Natasha for winning the reward: an Infinite Ammo Colt 1911."

"The reward has been issued. Please check!"

The system's voice continued to sound, and with this prompt, Black Widow suddenly felt her right hand sink.

She subconsciously raised it to look, and indeed, a Colt 1911 appeared in her hand.

Nick Fury and Black Widow were both senior agents and experts when it came to firearms.

They took one glance and immediately knew that on the surface, this gun looked no different from an ordinary Colt.

Black Widow even felt the weight of the gun, and there was no difference.

She ejected the magazine and looked at it; it was also identical.

"Bang bang bang!"

Immediately after, Black Widow began to pull the trigger, aiming at the snow in front of her.

An incredibly dense series of gunshots immediately rang out.

Black Widow fired forty to fifty rounds in one go, far exceeding the magazine capacity of a Colt 1911,

but bullets continued to stream from the barrel.

She ejected the magazine and looked again; the magazine was still full of bullets, as if it had never been used.

This left both Nick Fury and Black Widow marveling.

"Sir, it really is infinite ammo! This is truly a good thing!" Black Widow said excitedly.

If she had initially harbored doubts about the Q&A system, and had only chosen to trust Nick Fury and Iron Man based on rational judgment,

then now, Black Widow herself genuinely believed in the Q&A system.

Infinite ammo—that was practically a miracle.

"It suits you well!" Nick Fury nodded, saying with approval, "With this, you'll be even more formidable!"

Black Widow didn't stand on ceremony and directly put away the Infinite Ammo Colt; for a frontline field agent, this thing was indeed a good asset.

"Q&A completed. Now playing the answer analysis."

Along with the system's voice, a corresponding scene began to appear on the large screen in front of them.

Nick Fury, Black Widow, and Iron Man immediately perked up, staring at the large screen without blinking.

They all knew that the Q&A system was about to show them crucial information about the future.

"Attention all personnel, evacuation order confirmed. Please board designated vehicles for immediate evacuation!"

"Repeat, this is not a drill!"

"All personnel, evacuate immediately!"

In a place resembling some kind of base, a broadcast echoed throughout the area.

And at some entrances, exits, and key junctions, fully armed security personnel were evacuating the crowd.

Panicked individuals began to evacuate quickly and orderly under the direction of the security personnel.

At the same time, vehicles sped in from a distance, and helicopters flew in from the sky.

One look at the situation and it was clear that something extremely urgent had happened.

"Joint Dark Energy Research Facility! The Tesseract is stored here!"

Nick Fury's single eye narrowed slightly.

Black Widow and Iron Man didn't know where the place shown in the footage was, but Nick Fury recognized it "at a glance."

That was where he had secretly been studying the Tesseract.

Now it seemed that someone had directly stolen the Tesseract from this base, which not even a fly could enter?

But even so, he didn't need to order the evacuation of everyone in the entire base, did he?

Had the situation deteriorated to such an extent that he had to abandon the entire base?

Although they hadn't officially gotten to the main point yet, Nick Fury's mood had already become quite heavy.

After all, to be forced to abandon the entire base, this truly didn't seem like something a few human special forces teams could achieve.

Could it… really be the Chitauri?

Rumble!

In the chaotic evacuation scene, a helicopter landed on the helipad. The cabin door opened, and two figures stepped out.

They were none other than Nick Fury and his confidante, Agent Hill.

And Nick Fury's other confidante, Coulson, was already waiting on the helipad.
