Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 Nick Fury is dead

At Nick Fury's words, Captain America and Iron Man once again turned their attention to the options on the big screen.

After learning some necessary information from Nick Fury, they quickly sorted things out.

"If Nick Fury dies and S.H.I.E.L.D. is leaderless, it's perfectly reasonable for Pierce, as the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., to take over at that time."

Captain America spoke in a deep voice, stating the answer Nick Fury wanted to convey to everyone.

"So the answer is B, 'Captain America refuses to reveal Nick Fury's dying intelligence'?" Although Iron Man asked it as a question, his tone was very certain.

Whether it was the replicated serum, or refusing to sign some agreement, for whatever reason, any action to arrest Captain America could not have been directly ordered by Pierce.

The only one who could give such an order was Nick Fury, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Unless Nick Fury was no longer around.

As Iron Man and Captain America spoke, the atmosphere on the scene began to grow a little heavy, and Nick Fury's expression was somewhat somber.

He was the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., the great Egg Man; would he really be taken out by someone in the future?

"Nick Fury, this question is about S.H.I.E.L.D. and you, so why don't you answer it?" Iron Man's voice broke the silence, and he made the suggestion.

Captain America had no objection to this; this was his first time answering a question, and he still didn't quite understand what was going on.

Naturally, he wouldn't speak up and answer rashly.

"I choose B, Captain America refuses to reveal Nick Fury's dying intelligence!" Nick Fury didn't decline. After a moment of contemplation, he spoke firmly to the Fluorescence screen.

"[Correct answer!]"

The system's prompt immediately sounded.

This made Nick Fury's face, already as dark as a braised egg, even darker; his expression was extremely grim.

He couldn't believe that the thing he was most unwilling to accept was actually true—in the future, he would really be killed by someone!

However, Nick Fury quickly recovered. So what if he was indeed killed in the future?

Now that he knew about this future in advance, he wouldn't let it happen!

"Nick Fury, have I ever told you that the future predicted by the quiz system is actually the future of another parallel universe?"

Seeing Nick Fury's grim expression, Iron Man couldn't help but speak up.

"Parallel universe?"

Nick Fury raised an eyebrow slightly; this was the first time he had heard Iron Man mention this theory.

"That's right, the future of our universe has already changed the moment the quiz system appeared, hasn't it?"

"So these future fragments can be used as a reference, but they don't have to be taken as gospel; they might not necessarily happen."

Iron Man nodded and said to Nick Fury.

"Exactly, I'm not that easy to kill!" Nick Fury said with conviction, a sharp glint flashing in his single eye.

Whoever wanted to kill him, the Egg Man, had better be prepared to be counter-killed by him, the Egg Man!

"[Congratulations to quizzer Nick Fury for receiving the reward: one plasma lightsaber.]"

As the system spoke, Nick Fury immediately felt a weight in his hand. A cylindrical handle with a metallic sheen appeared in his grasp.

At first glance, it looked like a flashlight.

Immediately after, all relevant information about the plasma lightsaber flooded into Nick Fury's mind.

"Where did this come from?"

Captain America asked curiously.

He was certain that Nick Fury hadn't had such a strange metal handle in his hand before.

And Nick Fury was standing right in front of him; he hadn't seen Nick Fury pull the object from anywhere.

"Is this the hilt of that lightsaber?" Iron Man's eyes gleamed as he eagerly urged, "Nick Fury, hurry up and show us."

Nick Fury's face also held a hint of excitement. He stepped back two paces, aimed the hilt in a safe direction, and then pressed the switch.

Whir!

A blinding purple light instantly shot out from the hilt, forming a pure energy-based purple lightsaber!

The lightsaber was dazzling and brilliant, and Iron Man and Captain America could clearly feel the energy it contained.

Nick Fury, holding the lightsaber, walked over to a metal table. With a swift motion, he swung the sword down.

Clang!

The entire metal table was cleanly sliced in half, as if cutting through tofu dregs.

"Wow, this thing is really something!" Nick Fury nodded repeatedly with satisfaction, "Just have to be careful not to hold it the wrong way."

"Cool! This is really cool!" Iron Man couldn't help but exclaim in admiration, "Focusing plasma energy into a specific form, that's condensed energy beam technology! This is a very advanced field! I can use it on my Iron Man suit!"

As Iron Man thought of this, his eyes immediately lit up.

The Iron Man suit wasn't perfect, and the battle with the Winter Soldier, in particular, exposed a fatal flaw: its close-quarters combat ability was truly lacking.

Or rather, it wasn't equipped with appropriate melee weapons.

The weapons carried by the Iron Man suit were very limited; once the ammunition ran out, Iron Man could only fight with his fists and feet.

Dealing with ordinary people was fine, but against someone like the Winter Soldier, relying solely on fists and feet could be quite awkward.

But what if the Iron Man suit could instantly conjure a lightsaber?

Iron Man could no longer contain the excitement and thrill in his heart.

"Nick Fury, lend me your sword to study! The technology in it is very useful to me." Iron Man immediately said to Nick Fury.

"Sure, no problem." Nick Fury agreed with almost no hesitation, "But your research report needs to be shared with me."

"Deal!"

The two guys happily struck a deal.

Captain America, watching from the side, frowned. This scene reminded him of the Red Skull from back then.

Hydra back then was actually just a research department of the Nazis, nothing more.

But it was precisely because the Red Skull developed a series of super-powerful weapons, far ahead of their time, through the Cosmic Cube that they gradually gained power and became a major threat.

Captain America felt a deep aversion to such acts of researching and developing unconventional weapons.

"We shouldn't unilaterally research weapons we can't control; that will lead to chaos and disaster." Captain America said to Nick Fury and Iron Man with a serious expression.

"Captain, you've been asleep for too long; this world is no longer the one you knew." Nick Fury, however, said to Captain America with profound meaning.

"Believe me, once you truly understand this world, you'll know that we need these, and we need more!"

Captain America completely disagreed with this, but since he had only just met Nick Fury and Iron Man less than half a day ago, he didn't feel it was appropriate to say anything more.
