The moment we crossed into Nightshade territory, our border wolves surrounded us protectively. Drake was there immediately, his face shifting from relief to concern as he took in our battered state.
"Medical center, now," he ordered, gesturing for wolves to help support us. "Margaret's been on standby since you left."
As we limped toward the pack house, pack members emerged from their homes, gasping at seeing their Alpha and Luna returned bloody and exhausted. Some looked relieved. Others looked terrified, probably realizing what our escape meant for the pack's future.
Margaret met us at the medical center doors, already barking orders to her assistants. "Nessa first, that shoulder wound is the worst. Ezra, you're next. Everyone else, find a bed and let my team assess you."
