Ren and Kai's taxi eventually arrived at the area. They could see it—normally, there was a wall around Greenfield, but currently, for the preparations, the wall was down, giving anyone the ability to just walk inside.
So as soon as the taxi stopped, they quickly paid the taxi driver and got out, running towards the woods, not looking back at all.
And Iris, who wasn't that far behind them, also arrived and did the same exact thing—paid the taxi and ran after them.
As soon as she saw this, she noticed the place and knew they chose Greenfield to try and limit her powers. But that didn't matter to her at all.
Iris was passing through the trees—even though she couldn't see them anymore because of the trees, she already knew where they were. After passing a couple more trees, she pointed her gun at where the two of them were… but they weren't there.
The only thing there was their phones, belts, and all the metal objects that were on them.
Shit… they figured it out.
It wasn't that hard to actually figure out that she could detect metal, because of one giant clue: she bent a bullet in midair and precisely scratched Ren's leg. With practice, maybe it's achievable… but doing it without actually seeing the position of your opponents is difficult.
And they already know she had magnetism so it was pretty obvious she used the metal on them to detector their position.
Iris glimpsed from the corner of her eye something coming and quickly sidestepped—where she was, a whip hit that place. It was Ren.
Iris quickly shot at him, but he quickly ducked behind a tree. The bullet passed the tree… then bent to hit the place where Ren was.
Did I get him? she thought, but she didn't hear his scream.
Ren got out from behind the tree he was behind, exposing himself. When she shot, he already predicted what she was going to do—so he quickly bent down to the ground to dodge it.
He had enough time because of the bullet's below-average speed and the time it took to bend and come back that also reduced it speed.
Iris tried to shoot Ren again, but she heard the sound of fire and dodged an arrow coming towards her.
Boom!
The explosion caused fire that immediately got extinguished before it could spread… by Kai.
Iris didn't stop moving. She ran quickly.
This is the second part of the chapter.
Kai tried throwing a couple more Arrows, but nearly all of them hit the trees.
"Dammit," Kai muttered to himself.
The trees were originally good for them because they disturbed her eyesight, so she couldn't aim as well, and she couldn't detect them anymore… but currently, they were much more of a hindrance, because unlike her, he couldn't manipulate his Arrows mid-air.
Iris was running in a half circle—not running away from them, but trying to reposition herself quickly because she didn't want to get out of range.
Ren and Kai were focusing, trying to see where she was, and out of nowhere, their belts that were on the ground quickly flew towards Kai. They wrapped around him from behind. He wasn't quick enough to dodge—his guard was off.
"Kai!" Ren yelled, wanting to help him, but he couldn't because he saw Iris right in front of him though There was distance between them.
Iris smiled and tried to bite her gun at him.
Ren was in a tight spot because of the position he's in. There were trees right next to him and branches right above him. He couldn't whip her at all like this, and he couldn't reach her. Trying to grab her with his shades normally was slower than the momentum he gets when he swings his shades like a whip. But if he didn't do something right now, she was gonna shoot him.
So he did something he never tried before.
He launched two shades through his arm—manifesting it inside his arm and using his arm like a barrel, and the shade like a bullet.
He didn't know if it would work, but he tried it anyway.
And the shade flew straight out of his hand—fast.
The first one hit her hand that was holding the gun, making her fire a bullet to the side. The second hit her in the stomach, sending her flying back.
It worked.
It actually worked.
This was incredible.
Now he had another way of attacking with his shades. He would call this Shade Jab.
Anyways, he didn't let this distract him, so he sneaked through the trees so she couldn't shoot him.
Kai, who was being trapped by the belts, got free because they fell off. But he quickly created two fire swords and protected himself with them, because two bullets came flying towards him. Thankfully, they landed on the swords.
And then he moved through the trees, getting closer to Ren.
"Hey… did you notice that?" Kai asked.
"Notice what?" Ren asked, confused. They were moving while talking.
"Well… when she shot those two bullets, she could've kept the belts so I couldn't defend myself. But she let them go, then shot the bullets. Isn't that weird?"
Now that he mentioned it, it was kind of weird that she followed them so confidently, even though she was at a disadvantage in a place like this.
"Wait… do you think—" Kai wanted to say.
It was unnecessary, because they both knew what was going on now.
They didn't know how long Iris had been on the island, but judging by her position as vice leader of Gunshot, she had been here more than a year.
But her power was weak to the point that she couldn't control bullets and belts at the same time.
That didn't sound right at all.
Especially not for someone in her position, even if she neglected training.
So it wasn't about her power being weak.
It was probably because her power just had heavy limitations.
And that's why it wasn't as strong as they thought.
"If that's the case, we should rush her together," Ren said. "Try to overwhelm her."
They went straight toward her direction, not stopping at all.
Ren ran directly behind Kai so he could protect them with his two swords, shielding them.
Iris from far away was shooting at them—randomly, to the point that some of them went past them without even getting close.
Thankfully, they got far enough without getting touched until they reached her position.
After passing the tree, they were prepared to attack—
But they stopped when they saw a revolver floating… then flying back behind them.
Iris was standing on a branch. She caught it smoothly, quickly brought back her bullets, reloaded, and pointed at them.
"You two have made this more difficult than it needed to be," she said. "But it was also fun… and that's why I'm a little sorry that this is over."
She was about to shoot, until—
BANG.
Something hit her on the lower jaw, sending her flying and falling from the branch.
The thing that hit her… was a shade.
Hearing her fall on the ground, they looked down and saw her unconscious.
Kai glanced at the shade, then sighed.
"What took you so long to do that?"
