Lilian's POV
Augusto stood before me, his expression dark and mocking, every line of his face radiating controlled fury.
"What did I tell you before leaving for my business trip?"
I stayed silent, unable to meet his piercing gaze.
His anger was palpable now, fingers gripping my chin with bruising force.
"I warned you not to do anything that would anger me. You gave me your word, but look at what you've done. Lilian, lying seems to be second nature to you."
The flimsy maid costume I wore felt even more fragile under his harsh touch.
Shame burned through me as I crossed my arms over my chest, meeting his eyes through my tears. "Please stop this."
"Stop what?" His voice carried a dangerous edge that made me shiver.
"You put on this outfit and danced so provocatively on that stage to catch some rich man's attention, didn't you? If I don't handle you this way, those other men certainly would. Or maybe you wouldn't fight them off either?"
