Sonia retreated helplessly, yet her expression was stubborn: "I don't want to. You can't do this to me. I just want to make a meal for my son and the man I love..."
The atmosphere became somewhat tense for a moment.
"What's wrong? Has Young Master Carter fallen so low as to be unable to afford a meal?" A gentle voice suddenly interjected.
Everyone turned their heads to see Adrian Sterling slowly approaching, pushing a wheelchair, with his usual gentle smile that made him seem like a gentleman, though the coldness in his eyes was chilling.
Why is he here?
Sonia shuddered, instinctively looking away, not daring to meet those eyes full of affection and indulgence.
Knowing well she was only using him, knowing she only wanted the identity of the president's wife, knowing she had betrayed him, why did he still look at her with those eyes?
"Sonia..." Adrian reached out, wanting to hold his wife's hand, "I've missed you so much, it hurts deep in my bones."
