Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Starving Is Good for Losing Weight

Of course, among them were beastmen who felt sympathy as well.

Just as Mia finished speaking.

A tall figure emerged from the crowd, holding a piece of freshly roasted meat, walking straight toward Luna Sutton.

The man was upright and slender, his features stunning—more beautiful than a woman—his lips red as blood, his eyes slightly upturned, carrying a hint of seduction.

Yet, he didn't appear feminine. With a beast hide wrapped around his waist, it added to his wild allure.

Very captivating, impossible to look away, and the object of admiration for many females in the tribe.

This was the original owner's third Beast Husband, Kian Sterling—his real form was the Nine-Tailed White Fox, a Fifth-rank Beastman.

Luna Sutton remembered that the Nine-Tailed White Fox Clan was immensely powerful on this continent, dominating the entire Beast King City—pretty much aristocrats.

She didn't know if Kian Sterling was connected to Beast King City or what brought him to The Wolf Tribe.

All she knew was, during the annual trading trips to Beast King City to exchange salt, Kian Sterling never went.

As Luna Sutton was lost in thought.

Kian Sterling already stood before her, handing over the roast meat in his hand, his expression indifferent: "Take it."

No emotion whatsoever.

This scene stunned all the beastmen and females present.

Even Mia, who looked at Kian Sterling in disbelief, unable to comprehend his actions.

Doesn't he dislike Luna Sutton too?

But then, thinking how Luna Sutton usually got her meat from him, Mia got even more annoyed.

Kian Sterling did indeed dislike Luna Sutton, but never withheld meat from her—a truly responsible Beast Husband.

Otherwise, she wouldn't be this fat.

Luna gave him a glance, grinning as she took the meat, "Thanks."

Her voice was clear and pleasant, like a lark—completely at odds with her pimple-ridden, ugly face.

Kian Sterling looked at her, puzzled—it was the first time she ever said "thanks" to him.

Every time he handed her meat, she always took it for granted, never bothered with gratitude.

If he gave less meat, or if it was bad quality, she'd even lash out angrily.

Though her behavior was odd today, he didn't dwell on it.

He was about to leave.

But remembering her usual ways, he quickly added, "I just don't want people to think I can't even feed a female."

He dropped the words and walked off.

Mia heard this, immediately snickered, her gaze mocking.

Before she could start with her sarcastic remarks...

Meat pieces flew over from different directions, landing at Luna Sutton's feet, just as if they were tossing out trash.

Three in total, from different animals.

She looked at where the meat came from—Rhys Blackwood, Zeke Veridian, and Merrick Arcanus had thrown them.

Corbin Crowley didn't offer anything, sitting alone eating his roast, didn't look bothered—wondering how he dealt with the aphrodisiac fruit's effects.

Luna Sutton knew Corbin Crowley hated her, didn't even bother with appearances.

But she didn't care. After all, she gave him the aphrodisiac fruit and kicked him—how could she expect him to give her meat?

Even if the aphrodisiac fruit was the original owner's doing, it didn't make any difference now.

Mia watched the spectacle, jealousy almost leaking from her eyes, and sneered coldly: "It's just their charity, nothing more."

Luna Sutton stared at her coolly, saying nothing.

Mia was right; those three pieces of meat were nothing but their charity.

Thrown over like garbage—was this how you treat a beggar?

Her expression chilled; she wanted to hurl the meat back at those men's faces.

But for someone who'd scraped by in the apocalypse, she felt food's true value—no way she'd waste it.

Disrespectful gesture or not, that was good meat, obviously fresh.

Someone who's been hungry knows best how painful hunger truly is.

It's brutally uncomfortable.

She was about to bend down to pick up the meat.

A man's voice burst in her ear, loud and angry: "Don't pick it up!"

Luna Sutton froze, turning her head to see a man storming over in fury.

His features ordinary but stubborn, tall and strong, with only a beast hide at his waist, barefoot, his skin a healthy wheat color.

This was the original owner's brother, Mason Sutton—a Fourth-stage Beastman.

In The Wolf Tribe, he was pretty strong too, only behind her five Beast Husbands.

He actually hated the original owner as well, barely spoke—so what's gotten into him now?

He walked up to Luna Sutton, glancing at the three pieces of meat on the ground, his face darkening; he glared at the three men and barked, "You three—what's this supposed to mean? Is this how you treat your own female?"

He hated Luna Sutton too, but she was his blood sister—seeing her humiliated like that made him feel ashamed.

If their dad and Matron were here, they'd also be embarrassed.

Rhys Blackwood, Zeke Veridian, and Merrick Arcanus said nothing, as if they didn't even hear.

Their attitude only fueled Mason Sutton's anger.

So he turned his fury toward Corbin Crowley, sitting there eating meat without a care, his expression ugly: "Corbin Crowley, don't forget my sister is your female. As her male, you should take care of her. Giving her nothing—is your plan to starve her?"

Mason Sutton was loud enough for every beastman around to stare at Corbin Crowley.

Corbin Crowley paused, his silver eyes focusing on Mason, his handsome face covered in frost, voice ice-cold: "What, I need to report to you when I feed my own female?"

Mason Sutton stiffened under his icy glare, his bravado halved instantly.

Still, he insisted: "You don't need to report when you feed her, but you give her nothing—is it your plan to starve her? Don't forget, no matter how bad she is, she's your female."

Corbin Crowley curled his lip in a sneer, his silver eyes landing on Luna Sutton, full of obvious disgust: "Look at her tonnage. Ugly's one thing, but she's fat as a sow. A little starvation might help with the weight."

"Hahaha...."

The whole plaza erupted in laughter, everyone found Corbin Crowley's words relatable.

Especially the females, all staring at Luna Sutton with jealousy.

Jealous she had five such strong, outstanding Beast Husbands, and yet she wasn't satisfied, forever courting trouble.

Now she was fat as a pig, ugly too—no wonder she'd resort to secretly dosing aphrodisiac fruit. With looks like that, which beastman could sleep with her?

Females in the beast world prized strength—not the same as being fat.

Luna Sutton listened to the laughter and odd looks all around. Even with her thick skin, she was embarrassed now.

She glanced at Corbin Crowley, expression gritted, thinking: This bastard—his mouth is damn vicious.

Is this payback for the aphrodisiac fruit and kicking him?

But she resolved to lose weight. Forget others—she herself couldn't stand her own ugliness.

Mason Sutton looked awkward, mouth opening to retort.

But seeing his sister's face—full of pimples and pus, cratered—and weighing in at a solid three hundred pounds...

His mouth twitched hard. Not just Corbin Crowley, even he could barely look at her now.

At least she learned to bathe—some progress, after all.
