Chapter 1 - 1: The Night That Changed Everything.

The city smelled of rain and burning metal. Lyra ran, panting, through the alleyways as shadows darted across the walls.

She didn't know who was chasing her only that something inhumanly fast was closing in.

She slipped on the slick stones, catching herself just in time, but the sound of claws scraping the concrete made her freeze.

Then he appeared.

Tall. Dark. Dangerous. The stranger's eyes glowed faintly under the flickering streetlights. Without a word, he extended his hand.

Desperation pushed her forward, and before she could protest, his fingers brushed hers and everything changed.

The world shifted. The alley melted into fire and shadows, and a surge of power shot through her veins. She felt alive in a way she never had before, but fear and confusion clawed at her throat.

"You're one of them," he whispered, eyes scanning the darkness behind her. "And they want you dead."

Lyra wanted answers, but before she could speak, a figure lunged from the shadows a creature that should not exist.

The stranger acted faster, a blade of glowing energy slicing through the air. She watched, terrified and mesmerized, as he fought with supernatural precision.

When the last shadow fell, silence returned. Lyra's heart raced. The stranger looked at her, unreadable.

"Follow me," he said simply. "Or die here."

She hesitated. Her mind screamed for safety, but her body obeyed. Something about him his aura, his power, his eyes pulled her forward.

And somewhere deep inside, she knew this night would haunt her forever.

Lyra's heartbeat echoed in her ears as the stranger led her down the hidden streets. "Tell me your name," she whispered.

"I'm the reason you survived tonight," he said, "and the reason your world will never be the same.

"The city never slept, and neither did the danger lurking In its veins. Lyra followed the stranger through twisting alleyways, her pulse hammering like a war drum. Every step felt like walking on the edge of a blade.

"Where are we going?" she asked, her voice shaking despite her attempts at composure.

"Somewhere you'll be safe… for now," he replied, his tone low, almost a growl.

Lyra's eyes caught his a storm of intensity that made her stomach flip. She wanted to look away, but something inside her froze her gaze. She felt drawn to him, and it terrified her.

They ducked into an abandoned warehouse. The stranger motioned for her to stay behind crates. "You're not ready to fight yet. But you will need to survive."

Before she could process his words, shadows moved along the walls silent, fluid. Lyra's heart nearly stopped. She instinctively raised her hands, and a faint shimmer of energy leapt from her fingertips.

The shadows recoiled, hissing, and she realized: she wasn't as defenseless as she thought.

The stranger smiled just slightly but it made her pulse spike. "Good. That spark… it's your first gift."

The night stretched on. They moved through the streets, unseen enemies lurking. She learned how to listen for danger, how to sense unnatural movements.

Her trust in the stranger grew, though questions lingered: Who was he? Why did he save her?

Then she saw it a figure in the shadows, watching them. Her blood ran cold. Recognition struck like lightning. Someone from her past… someone she thought she'd left behind.

The stranger's grip tightened on her wrist. "We don't have much time. They know you're awake."
