Evelyn froze, then shouted at Caden Lockwood, "It's sweat!"
Immediately, she bit her lip and softened her tone, "Just tell me! How many pills should I take? You're in this much pain, and you still have the mind to joke?"
Caden softened his expression; her sweat at this moment moved him more than tears.
"You're crying but won't admit it." He sighed wistfully, "Five pills."
Not wanting to argue with him, she quickly poured out five pills and put them in his mouth, then fetched some water to carefully serve him.
The medicine's effect wasn't immediate, and Caden was suffering from a severe headache.
Evelyn sat beside him, not knowing what to do. She could only try to gently press his head, hoping it would slightly relieve his pain.
Caden squinted at Evelyn, who was so focused and gentle, muttering under her breath, "You say you're sick, so why don't you carry your medication with you? What if I'm not here, or I run away? What then?"
She glared at him in resentment, seeing his complexion slightly improve, though his body was still shivering cold.
Glancing at the big bed and hesitating for a moment, she asked again, "Do you have the strength to get up? Let me help you to the bed to lie down?"
Caden nodded, placing a hand on Evelyn's shoulder, only to realize how this petite body was surprisingly powerful enough to carry him.
Lying on the bed, he had no energy left, while she was using a warm towel to wipe his face gently, each stroke soothing and comforting, more effective than medicine.
Unknowingly, Caden fell asleep.
Evelyn sighed softly, looking at the man lying in bed, suddenly feeling a sense of familiarity, as if they had met before.
Her delicate eyebrows slightly furrowed, she compared the vague face in her mind with the stranger before her.
Instinctively, she thought she must be crazy!
Maybe she had unrealistically idealized the older brother from her memories, so seeing such an exceptionally handsome man, she naturally made a connection!
However, this man was truly too good-looking!
Realizing she was being a bit of a romantic fool, Evelyn felt Caden's forehead again, finding it a normal temperature, then went to rest on the sofa nearby.
When Caden woke up, Evelyn was already asleep on the sofa.
A few strands of sunlight filtered through the window, casting on her face, highlighting her exquisite beauty.
Feeling a sudden warmth in his heart, he tried to get up, only to find his hands and feet tightly bound, unable to free himself.
He struggled slightly, making faint rustling sounds.
Evelyn opened her eyes, seeing Caden awake. She couldn't help but show a smug smile.
"Don't waste your efforts! I tied it very tight; unless I untie it, you can forget about escaping!" she said with confident assertion.
Caden raised an eyebrow and flashed a relaxed smile, "What if I scream for help?"
Evelyn froze and immediately lunged at Caden, hurriedly covering his mouth with her hands.
Oh heavens!
She really started to doubt her own intelligence!
"Don't yell! I don't mean any harm; I just want to ask you a question!" Evelyn exclaimed urgently, "Did something really happen between us that night?"
Caden studied Evelyn, feeling the warmth of her hand over his lips, comforting him immensely.
After hesitating for a moment, Evelyn removed her hand, seeing he didn't shout, she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Untie me," he coaxed in a deep voice, "and I'll tell you the answer."
She scrutinized him suspiciously, not having much trust in him.
This man was entirely different when he was sick compared to when he was healthy!
"Isn't it said that it would hurt a lot the first time? I didn't feel that way!" she mumbled to herself.
He exuded an aura of arrogant dominance, softly speaking words that made her blush and her heart race, "I'm just that good at what I do; you wouldn't feel pain."
