Chapter 60 - Chapter 61

"Have all of Tony Stark's items arrived?" Lu Yi asked Yuriko.

It had been three days since the expo that caused a massive uproar, and Tony Stark had issued another bounty.

Tony Stark was indeed a generous man. Whenever he sent something—no matter how much—it never took more than three days, and this time was no exception. Yuriko finally finished inspecting everything."Everything's here. Nothing's missing! The weight and quantity all match!"

"Good. Just sort them according to the order I left, then put them away," Lu Yi said with a satisfied smile, as if addressing Tony Stark directly.

Doing business with Tony Stark was always pleasant—he paid well and never tried to cheat you. He was genuinely generous.

"What? Is there something else?"

"There's someone who claims to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who wants to see you."

"A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent? Where is he now?"

"He's already inside, but I made him wait by the door."

"Really? Sort these things for me. I'll go take a look."

After speaking, Lu Yi teleported to the doorway and saw the man who claimed to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

"Did Nick Fury send you?" Lu Yi asked.

"Yes."

"What happened?"

Lu Yi firmly believed one thing: Nick Fury would never come to the temple—or send someone—without a reason. If he summoned people here, he definitely had a purpose.

"The Darkhold has been found. But when Natasha and Coulson tried to retrieve it… there was a small problem."

Lu Yi was thrilled by the first half of the sentence and furious at the second.

A problem?

His instincts told him someone had interfered. It could be S.H.I.E.L.D., or it could be Hydra.

"What small problem?" Lu Yi asked, suppressing his anger.

"A demon appeared out of nowhere and stole the Darkhold. Even though Natasha and Coulson had the magical equipment you gave them, they were still defeated," the visitor said helplessly.

His expression looked sincere—but Lu Yi didn't believe a single bit of it. He immediately probed the man's mind, searching through his memories.

A faint light glimmered in Lu Yi's eyes as his thoughts entered the visitor's memories. Unfortunately, the man truly believed what he said: the Darkhold had indeed been stolen by a demon. Lu Yi found no hidden deception.

Two possibilities remained.

First, Director Nick Fury had lied to the man. Since the agent never saw the demon take the book with his own eyes, everything could be fabricated. For the sake of "secrecy," Fury might have deliberately concealed the truth from everyone.

Second, Fury had told the truth—everything really happened as described.

But Lu Yi discovered something unexpected:The demon that took the Darkhold looked exactly like the blood demon Insk he himself had summoned.

The creature Nick Fury described matched Insk's appearance perfectly.

"Did I just shoot myself in the foot… or is this part of Nick Fury's scheme?" Lu Yi wondered.

Everything seemed logical—except for one flaw: Nick Fury didn't come personally.

The Darkhold was extremely dangerous. The fewer who knew about it, the better. Up to now, only Fury, Coulson, and Natasha knew of its existence. Now a fourth person appeared. Even if that fourth person was Hawkeye, it was still suspicious.

Nick Fury should have come himself.

"I understand. Go back and tell Nick Fury that from now on… I'll handle this personally."

"Alright."

Hawkeye—the fourth person who knew about the Darkhold—responded and left.

After he departed, Lu Yi fell silent for a moment, then left a message for Yuriko before teleporting away.

He needed to confirm this personally.

Since Insk was his summoned creature, Lu Yi could sense his location.

If Insk truly stole the Darkhold, Lu Yi would retrieve it. If not… then whoever touched it would die without exception.

The Darkhold was that important. S.H.I.E.L.D., Hydra—anyone who dared to covet it would not survive.

Lu Yi appeared inside a bar, killing intent radiating from him like a storm. The crazed patrons suddenly froze, their bodies stiff under the crushing pressure. One by one, they trembled, staring fearfully at Lu Yi's shadowed silhouette beneath the lights.

Under his murderous aura, the world drained of color. Lu Yi became a pure mass of darkness—the center of a suffocating void.

He was like a human black hole, swallowing all light.

No one knew who moved first. Panic erupted, and the patrons bolted for the exit. Within seconds, the bar was empty—except for two people.

Lu Yi.

And a strong, rugged middle-aged man.

"Insk… did you really think I wouldn't recognize you just because you changed your skin?" Lu Yi said.

"Of course I knew you'd recognize me. But what exactly are you trying to get from me?" Insk replied calmly, unafraid.

"You took something of mine." Lu Yi glanced at the bag beside Insk.

Now he could finally confirm it—he really had shot himself in the foot. The Darkhold was indeed in Insk's possession.

What a coincidence. Who else could it have been?

But in a way, he should thank Insk. Without him, the Darkhold might have fallen into someone else's hands entirely.

The moment Lu Yi saw Insk, he used his mind-reading ability. What he discovered in Insk's memory surprised even him.

After thinking about everything carefully… perhaps he hadn't made a mistake after all. Maybe the timing of this "accident" was perfect.
