Chapter 72 - Chapter 73

Crazy!

He must be insane!

Thor stared at Lu Yi as if looking at a madman, feeling completely unsettled.

Thor didn't want to waste any more energy being angry at Lu Yi. He lifted his head and shouted, "Heimdall!"

That shout was like a signal. Suddenly, a strange mass of clouds gathered in the sky. As they condensed, a beam of light shot down from above, about to envelop Thor.

However, while the beam was fast, Lu Yi was even faster.

The moment the sky began to change, he immediately understood that Heimdall, guardian of Asgard, was opening the Bifrost, trying to extract Thor at the highest possible speed.

Thor hadn't expected Lu Yi to be this relentless. In panic, he quickly threw Mjolnir to block Lu Yi.

He knew very well that he was absolutely no match for Lu Yi. If he continued fighting, he would surely die. He just wanted to break free and escape Lu Yi's pursuit as fast as possible.

People always had high expectations for Mjolnir—and indeed, it struck Lu Yi.

But this time, Lu Yi was prepared. Seeing the hammer flying toward him, he twisted in mid-air, dodging it with a clean sidestep, and continued charging toward Thor.

Seeing this, Thor felt a shiver deep in his soul. The scene reminded him of the Destroyer from earlier. Everything looked the same—they were about to collide again.

Thor was just moments away from escape. Though Lu Yi was closing in, the light beam in the sky was still a short distance away. Lu Yi was going to hit him first.

But suddenly, the light beam in the sky changed dramatically.

It thickened unnaturally, and its descent accelerated. What should have been too late to reach Thor… suddenly slammed down at the perfect moment.

Boom!

With a deafening blast, Thor was engulfed by the beam of light.

The shockwave from its impact deflected Lu Yi, pushing him aside as the Bifrost struck. He emerged from the side of the beam, hovering in the air.

"This time I'll let you go. You're lucky," Lu Yi said coldly as he looked at the Bifrost before him.

A deep instinctive aversion rose in him at the sight of the rainbow bridge.

A device that could transport someone anywhere without their consent was too unpredictable. He had no desire to test where it might send him. Who knew what strange corner of the Nine Realms he would end up in?

His phasing ability allowed instant movement, but only within the same dimension.

If the Bifrost dumped him somewhere remote in any of the nine realms, returning wouldn't be easy.

Even worse, if he were sent straight to Asgard itself—well, that would be troublesome. That was Thor's territory, full of warriors and mages everywhere.

Lu Yi was ambitious. At present, aside from the slumbering Odin, no one in Asgard could truly match him.

But enough ants could still kill an elephant. Entering Asgard would mean instant encirclement. Whether he'd end up like the mauled elephant was anyone's guess.

Fortunately, something like the Bifrost wouldn't last much longer. Thor would destroy it soon—it would never threaten Lu Yi again, neither now nor later.

"System, what do we do now?" Lu Yi asked as he watched Thor retrieve his hammer and disappear within the beam.

"The Destroyer was shattered by the host's attack and reduced to scrap metal. Thor fled and refused to face the host—this counts as a failed production attempt. Thor's four companions—"

"Those count as failures too?" Lu Yi interrupted before the system finished.

"Thor's four companions did not engage directly with the host. Therefore, even if they escaped, they do not count as failures nor are they included in performance records."

"Fine. It's your decision."

Lu Yi didn't really care about the system's explanation.

Thor's companions could only give him four normal draw chances at most. With his upgraded mech abilities, basic draws were no longer very important. He felt a small pang of regret, but nothing significant.

"System, tally how many withdrawal chances I earned."

"Congratulations to the host. You have obtained one perfect withdrawal and one optimized withdrawal. The perfect withdrawal came from Thor, and the optimized one from the Destroyer."

Hearing the system's response, Lu Yi couldn't help but smile. Worth the effort.

He hadn't expected the Destroyer to be so pitiful—it ended up worse than those who escaped.

"But this also proves one thing: Thor is outstandingly strong. A true potential stock, deserving of special attention. From now on, every time I meet him, I must challenge him!" Lu Yi said with malicious enthusiasm.

At that exact moment, far away in Asgard, Thor suddenly felt as though something ominous was staring at him. He shivered.

"Is there a draft?"

Thor shook his head and cast the thought aside. Now was not the time for such nonsense. He quickly sped up toward the palace where his father slept.

Lu Yi had no idea that his hostile intent had reached Asgard. After reflecting on the mistakes he made during the fight with Thor, he turned around and flew toward home to recover his magic power and begin preparing to forge his magic furnace.

"Just a moment!"

Just as Lu Yi was about to leave, a distant voice called out.

"Hawkeye? Why do I keep running into you everywhere?" Lu Yi turned and saw Hawkeye blocking his path.

"HQ is short on senior agents right now. Anyone capable has to pick up the extra work. I have no choice but to follow the director's orders," Hawkeye said helplessly.

Lu Yi understood the situation and didn't press further. "Then why are you stopping me? Don't tell me you're angry about what I did and want to warn me to stay out of your business."

"As if we'd dare!"

Cold sweat formed on Hawkeye's forehead. Even if they did have such thoughts, they would never say it out loud. He had approached Lu Yi for a completely different reason.
