We were at the cafeteria, eating and chatting quietly, when the sound cut through the room.
All of us froze.
At first, I thought it was just background noise—the television mounted high on the wall, usually ignored in favor of gossip and laughter. But the tone of the reporter's voice was different this time.
Forks paused halfway to mouths. Chairs stopped scraping against the floor. Even the hum of voices seemed to dim as people turned their attention toward the screen.
"We've received confirmed intelligence regarding the manager of a very popular restaurant downtown," the reporter said, her expression grave. "He has been accused of sexual harassment and attempted assault. This marks the first case of its kind ever reported in Nova Terra. The pack security team is currently investigating the matter."
My chest tightened.
