Honestly, if it weren't for the pressure from the elders, Shizune.....who suffered from motion sickness.....wouldn't have come.
"Because your eyes, Lady Tsunade, are beautiful… like they hold stars," Raizen said.
"Oh?"
Tsunade slightly clenched her hand.
If Raizen had been joking, she would have given him a punch to teach him a lesson.....he couldn't speak so casually about her.
"When you examined me, Lady Tsunade, I could feel your diligence.
Even though you are in such a high position, and I am just an ordinary Uchiha…" Raizen paused, then continued:
"I have read many tales, and you must be the famous healer in the stories, Lady Tsunade."
"Tsunade is one of the Sannin, Konoha's most skilled medical ninja. Of course she's a famous healer," Tsunade replied.
Mikoto, quietly observing from nearby, snickered.
Raizen really was just a boy at heart, pure and simple.
Hearing this, Tsunade relaxed her hand.
So he was complimenting her medical skills. He could talk after all.
"If I could learn medical ninjutsu like this, I could help others too. I wish I could be like Lady Tsunade," Raizen said earnestly.
"Medical ninjas need Yang-type chakra. Without it, you cannot become a healer," Tsunade said, standing up.
She told Mikoto she would review some materials and have another skilled medical ninja, Yakushi Nonō, check on him.
Shizune followed Tsunade as they left.
"Raizen, rest well for now. We will arrange your enrollment soon," Mikoto said before departing.
The once lively room now had only Raizen remaining.
"Well, I'm not Naruto Uzumaki, blessed by fate," Raizen muttered, shaking his head.
Naruto could convince even Tsunade, who had been away for years, to return and take up the Hokage duties.
Tsunade's rejection was expected.
If she had intended otherwise, she would have tested his chakra type herself.
But she didn't.
After all, he was an Uchiha.
Life rarely goes perfectly.
Raizen was not discouraged. He thought of Yakushi Nonō.
Tsunade had said she would come next time.
If handled carefully, Raizen could use this chance to learn medical ninjutsu.
The Uchiha clan had no advanced medical ninjas.
Most Uchiha, after graduating, joined Konoha's police division.
They only learned basic medical ninjutsu at the academy.
During peace, they acted as security; during war, as front-line fighters. Few pursued medical studies further.
Perhaps the best Uchiha medical skill was that of Uchiha Madara.....capable of performing an eye replacement surgery instantly.
Raizen cared about medical ninjutsu because the world was fragile.
Even Sasuke's Rinnegan could be blinded by a simple kunai. Medical ninjutsu could save lives in emergencies.
In the brutal wars ahead, who could guarantee they wouldn't lose an arm or a leg?
Prosthetics from Hashirama's cells weren't available to everyone.
Raizen had learned some chakra refinement techniques, and used most of his small savings to have his chakra type tested.
The result: he had Yang-type chakra.
Not everyone possessed Yang-type chakra; for instance, Sasuke's official manual didn't include it, nor did Naruto's for Yin-type.
Though chakra nature can be trained over time, it requires years.
A natural Yang-type user can master related techniques faster.
Raizen rose from the tatami, walking to the window.
He pushed it open casually.
The gentle rain tapped the trees in the courtyard, leaves rustling softly.
A chilly autumn wind brushed his face.
Raizen smiled faintly:
"Just a little wind and frost."
He already had a plan for attracting Yakushi Nonō.
Nonō, in the future, would run an orphanage. For those children, she might even rejoin the retired Root organization.
In this vast world, everyone had unique desires.
Some sought power till old age; some disregarded it entirely, craving only longevity.
Nonō's preference? Children.
The next day.
Ninja Academy.
"This is our new classmate, Uchiha Raizen," the instructor announced.
He asked Raizen to write his name on the blackboard.
Raizen picked up a white piece of chalk and wrote neatly.
Looking down, he saw several familiar faces: Obito, Kakashi, Rin, Genma…
"Such neat handwriting," Rin praised.
"Hey Rin, I heard he's from the Land of Lightning," Obito whispered.
The Land of Lightning was full of brutes; Rin, don't be fooled by appearances, he thought.
"Please take care of me," Raizen said with a gentle smile.
Following the instructor's guidance, he sat at the back, near the window.
"All right, let's start the lesson," the teacher coughed and began.
The Uchiha's reputation had recently suffered, but the instructors still seemed to favor Uchiha students.....mostly because they were easy to teach.
Normally, new students would take a test: basic genjutsu, ninjutsu, and chakra control.
As long as they passed, they could enroll.
Raizen, being a transfer Uchiha, could keep up easily.
Ninja families often provided additional private instruction.
Soon, it was break time.
"I heard Raizen is from the Land of Lightning?"
Raizen sat near Rin, who walked over to ask.
"Yes."
"Can you keep up here? You're a transfer student, right?" Rin asked curiously.
Before graduating and earning the "ninja headband," students couldn't leave the village.
"Don't worry… I'll do my best," Raizen said, closing one book and picking up another.
He glanced at Rin, eyes lifting slightly:
"Rin, could you teach me Konoha's ninjutsu?"
