My heart pounds with anticipation as I see Lara waiting for us outside the courthouse. Having her here means everything to me, even though I know she's missing important classes to be by my side today.
"We can't waste time on introductions right now. They're expecting us inside any minute. Can you wait for us afterward, Lara? We could grab lunch together, all of us."
"Absolutely," she responds, her voice steady despite the tension crackling around us.
I lean down and press my lips against hers, drawing strength from her presence before guiding our group toward the imposing courthouse doors. The weight of what we're about to face settles heavily on my shoulders.
