Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: Testing Poison

Chapter 140: Testing Poison

The overwhelming surge of energy blanketed the entire basin before it was gradually reined in.

Inside the mountain cave, Xiao Yan opened his eyes, a sharp glint flashing in them as he felt the renewed strength of his nine star Dou Emperor realm coursing through him.

From the day he left the Xiao Clan, nine months had passed. In that time, he had managed to regain his strength and advance once more to the peak of the Dou Emperor stage.

To achieve such progress advancing a full star each month was an accomplishment that would be considered extraordinary even within the Xiao Clan.

"Although my Flame Mantra remains at the mid Xuan stage and my Dou Qi has only just reached nine star Dou Emperor, the power of the Yin Yang Heavenly Flame makes me far stronger than I was before. With the addition of my soul power, I could easily defeat my past self."

After evaluating his progress, Xiao Yan spread his Dou Qi wings and headed toward Xiao Yi Xian's hut.

"Not only have I broken through to nine star Dou Emperor in this past month, but my relationship with Xiao Yi Xian has also progressed to the point where it's time for the next step."

A faint smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth as he flew toward the small hut.

Inside the hut, Xiao Yi Xian sat quietly on her bed. However, her usual bright and clear eyes had turned a dull gray, and her once rosy lips were now an ominous shade of black.

She leaned against the window, gritting her teeth to endure the dizziness swirling in her head.

Thud!

Suddenly, she heard a noise behind her as someone landed heavily outside the window.

Her pale face shifted in alarm, and she quickly wrapped herself tightly in a blanket.

"Xiao Yi Xian," came Xiao Yan's familiar voice, drawing closer with each passing moment.

Hearing his footsteps approach, she shrank further into the blanket, refusing to reveal herself.

"What are you doing wrapped up in a blanket? Are you tired? At least stick your head out," Xiao Yan teased gently.

Xiao Yi Xian remained silent, trembling slightly beneath the covers.

Xiao Yan glanced around the room and soon noticed a small pouch of black powder on the windowsill.

"I see what's going on," he thought, piecing it together.

He sat down by the window, speaking softly, "You took poison, didn't you?"

Her thin figure beneath the blanket trembled but didn't respond.

"You have the Woeful Poison Body taking poison is normal for you. Come on, show your face. What's there to be scared of?" he coaxed, tapping the blanket gently.

"No, I don't want you to see me like this," came her muffled, tearful voice.

"Taking poison won't turn you into some hideous monster. What's the big deal?" Xiao Yan continued in a reassuring tone.

Still, Xiao Yi Xian remained silent, quietly sobbing.

"This girl…" Xiao Yan sighed in exasperation before pulling back the blanket in one smooth motion.

Beneath it, Xiao Yi Xian's delicate face emerged, still beautiful yet tinged with an eerie charm. Her gray eyes shimmered with a strange light, and her blackened lips added a haunting allure to her features.

"Do I look ugly like this?" Xiao Yi Xian asked, her voice trembling as her gaze met his.

"Ugly? Who said that? You look stunning there's a unique beauty to this," Xiao Yan replied with a gentle smile, reaching out to pat her head.

"Really?" she asked, her sobs slowing as her red rimmed eyes searched his for sincerity.

"Of course."

"But my body is filled with deadly poison. If anyone touches me, they'll die," she whispered, her voice tinged with sorrow.

"The hell you mean, 'anyone'?!" Xiao Yan's expression darkened at her words.

"That's not what I meant!" Xiao Yi Xian stammered, flustered by his sudden shift in demeanor.

Before she could explain further, Xiao Yan leaned in, his face close enough for her to feel his breath.

His lips met hers, dark and venomous as they were.

"Hmm… Slightly numbing. Definitely poisonous," Xiao Yan thought, evaluating the experience before deepening the kiss to "test the poison" further.

When he finally pulled back, Xiao Yi Xian's pale face was now flushed, the eerie gray in her eyes softened.

"See? You were worried for nothing. I'm perfectly fine," Xiao Yan said, his tone warm and reassuring.

"But your lips…" Xiao Yi Xian pointed anxiously at his slightly darkened lips.

"Trying to poison me? Not a chance!" Xiao Yan scoffed. Activating the Yin Yang Heavenly Flame within him, he quickly burned away the residual toxins. His lips returned to their natural color in moments.

"You see? Completely fine." His mischievous grin returned as he looked at her. "Tonight, let me truly test the so called Woeful Poison Body and see how terrifying it really is."

"Test it… how?" Xiao Yi Xian asked, her voice confused. But when Xiao Yan's hand slid beneath the blanket, realization dawned, and her face turned scarlet.

"No!" she protested, biting her lip as she looked up at him, her eyes pleading.

Her bashfulness only made her more enticing.

In one swift motion, Xiao Yan slipped under the blanket, wrapping his arms around her slender frame.

"Don't," she murmured, squirming in his grasp but unable to break free.

"Xiao Yi Xian," Xiao Yan suddenly paused, his gaze meeting hers.

"Don't you know how I feel about you?" he asked seriously.

"I do… but my body…" Xiao Yi Xian hesitated, her gray eyes brimming with uncertainty.

"I told you before I can cure your Woeful Poison Body," Xiao Yan said firmly. "Others might fear it, but I don't."

"After tonight, you'll be mine. I'll stay by your side forever, until the end of time," he promised, his voice low but resolute.

Faced with Xiao Yan's heartfelt words, Xiao Yi Xian felt her defenses crumble. Her heart, already heavy with emotion, yielded entirely.

"I… I like you," she finally admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.

"That's all I needed to hear." Xiao Yan pressed his forehead against hers, his lips curving into a gentle smile.

With the moonlight casting a soft glow over the small hut, Xiao Yi Xian lifted her head and leaned closer, offering herself willingly to the man who had stolen her heart.

Outside, the full moon hung high in the sky, its silvery light illuminating the quiet basin, lending an ethereal beauty to the night. For reasons unknown, this particular evening carried an air of captivating romance, as if nature itself were celebrating their union.
