Chapter 141: Yun Yun Reappears

The Woeful Poison Body terrifying beyond words!

Xiao Yan lay on the bed, glancing at the peacefully sleeping Xiao Yi Xian.

Last night's "poison testing" session had been quite the experience. The silver needles he used for acupuncture had turned black as soon as they pierced her skin. However, his formidable physique, cultivation, and mastery of Heavenly Flames rendered her poison ineffective. With the purification of his Yin Yang Heavenly Flame, all the toxins were completely incinerated into nothingness.

On the whole, the experiment was a resounding success.

During the session, Xiao Yan's acupuncture techniques had not only helped Xiao Yi Xian convert the poison's medicinal essence into Dou Qi more efficiently but also allowed her cultivation level to progress further during their dual cultivation.

Now, her cheeks flushed crimson, she lay curled against Xiao Yan's shoulder, her long lashes fluttering gently in her sleep a sight so delicate it tugged at one's heartstrings.

Time passed. Eventually, she stirred, letting out a soft murmur before slowly opening her drowsy, misty eyes.

The first thing she saw was a handsome face, smiling warmly down at her. Against her skin, she felt a warmth that wasn't her own.

"Ah!" she yelped, instinctively attempting to leap out of the bed, only to realize she wasn't wearing anything.

Her already rosy face turned as red as a ripe apple. In a panic, she pulled the blanket over herself, burying her head like an ostrich trying to escape the world.

"What are you so shy about?" Xiao Yan chuckled and, without warning, slipped under the blanket as well, resting his forehead against hers.

Under the dark cover of the blanket, shielded from the outside world, the only things that existed were their mingled breaths and shared warmth.

"W what… what did I do last night?" Xiao Yi Xian asked, her voice trembling with embarrassment.

"Not much. You just kept calling me 'Brother Yan' over and over," Xiao Yan replied with a casual tone, though his words sent her face into a feverish blush.

"Y you… get out! Leave!" Xiao Yi Xian's voice was barely a whisper.

"What? I can't hear you," Xiao Yan teased deliberately.

"I said, get out! I need to put my clothes on!" she huffed, a trace of indignation lacing her voice.

"Why bother getting dressed? Let's test your poison again," Xiao Yan quipped, pulling the blanket over their heads.

Amid Xiao Yi Xian's muffled protests and shy squeals, the morning began anew with another round of "testing."

Later, after freshening up, the two sat together in the small hut. Xiao Yi Xian, now dressed in her usual simple white gown, noticed a few wrinkles on Xiao Yan's clothes. With a faint smile, she reached out to smooth them.

"You're starting to look more and more like the perfect wife," Xiao Yan teased, his grin smug.

"Wife? I don't think I'm worthy of being Young Master Xiao's wife. Being a concubine is more my speed," she replied with a light roll of her eyes, her voice carrying a teasing undertone.

Xiao Yan blinked in surprise at her words, momentarily taken aback. "The self awareness of this woman…"

He had previously been upfront with Xiao Yi Xian about his relationships with other women. Better to address it early than risk misunderstandings later.

Thankfully, on the Dou Qi Continent, it was entirely normal for men of status to have multiple wives and concubines. While Xiao Yi Xian had initially been silent upon learning the truth, Xiao Yan's sweet words and genuine care had eventually soothed her.

"I may not be able to give you the title of 'wife,' but I promise to give you my care and attention, no less than anyone else," Xiao Yan said softly, taking her hand in his.

Such words might have earned him a slap in his previous life, but here on the Dou Qi Continent, they came across as sincere and heartfelt.

Xiao Yi Xian shook her head gently, a serene smile gracing her lips. She leaned her head against his shoulder, her slender arms wrapping around his.

"Titles don't matter to me. As long as you don't abandon me one day, that's enough," she murmured.

"If I can't get along with the others, I'll come back to this little valley. I'll live a simple life, tending to herbs, or return to Qingshan Town as a humble healer. When you think of me, you can come and visit your concubine. Would that be okay?"

Her large, clear eyes gazed up at him, filled with hope.

Xiao Yan remained silent for a moment.

"Would that be okay?" she pressed, her voice soft and pleading.

Something stirred within Xiao Yan. For the first time, a twinge of guilt pierced his usually resolute heart.

"…Okay." He gently stroked her head, his tone tender.

Half a month passed in peaceful bliss, filled with simple joys and quiet companionship.

Until one day, a powerful Dou Emperor's aura briefly swept across the basin, startling Xiao Yan out of his contented haze.

"She's here," he murmured, a frown creasing his brow. Memories of a certain encounter in the Magical Beast Mountain Range surfaced in his mind.

"Heh, if this woman doesn't know her place, I might just have to let her go." Xiao Yan chuckled inwardly but soon fell into thought.

"What's wrong?" Xiao Yi Xian entered the room, a flower basket in hand, her face lit with excitement. She must have found a few rare herbs during her morning walk.

Seeing her radiant joy, Xiao Yan couldn't bring himself to disrupt her happiness. Instead, he smiled and said gently, "I have some matters to attend to. I might need to leave for a few days."

The fleeting disappointment in her eyes didn't escape his notice, though she quickly replaced it with her usual calm smile.

"I understand. Be careful out there," she said, her tone light.

Xiao Yan leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead before stepping outside.

Spreading his Dou Qi wings, he took off, soaring toward the direction of the fleeting aura.

About the time it would take to burn a stick of incense, he sensed powerful energy fluctuations in the distance.
