Chapter 9 - They're Intelligent.

He raised both his hands up in the air as he stretched them fully, a small yawn escaped through his mouth as he pushed himself back on his two feet. "Let's finish the dungeon now."

His hands rested on his waist, and his eyes were locked onto the other puddles. He started counting them in his mind, the total number of them was 28.

'These many puddles? I know this shit, this chamber isn't cleared yet, and I think there are a lot of those Imps in here.'

Before he could come out of his thoughts, the purple water in the puddles slightly moved as multiple Shadow Imps came out of the water in just a blink of an eye.

"I'm basically using a cheat," he muttered under his breath.

A group of Imps moved towards him in unison. Leon didn't wait for them to reach him first. He moved before they could even comprehend.

The Imps didn't realise that he had already moved from there, his pace had increased multiple times than it was before.

He travelled to his left as he used his skill [Shadow Pierce], his mana accumulated on both of his palms, it escaped through them and was directed towards the Imps, which were in front.

The shadowy spikes then made their way to the two Imps as they pierced their skulls, they both fell onto the ground with a loud thud.

The remaining of them stopped, they froze in their steps as they looked at the ones who had just fallen.

Their eyes then shifted towards the place from where the spikes had just come, but Leon was not there.

He had already changed his location, there was a pillar nearby, and he had made his way there and took cover. 'That was a nice one.'

He peeked through the corner of the pillar, looking at the group of the remaining Imps. 'There are still 26 of them left. I have to use a nice strategy to win against them without taking any damage.'

One of them had spotted him peeking through the pillar. A loud SCREECH escaped its mouth, and it did the work of giving the signal to the other Imps.

They all rushed towards the pillar in unison. Now, they had finally started to use covers.

Some of them were using the mist to cover themselves, and some of them were using their speed and leaving just their afterimages behind.

He gulped as a bead of sweat welled up on his forehead, fingers twitched slightly. "Should I go and fight in hand-to-hand combat? But, I don't have a lot of stat points in strength..." He muttered under his breath.

A sudden realisation came to his mind. 'Wait... I got the title, which increases my stats by 5, that means I have 10 stat points in strength.' A smirk curled up on his lips.

He muttered under his breath. "Inventory."

A bright blue light appeared in front of him, and a system panel was hovering in the air and was shimmering brightly.

---

[Inventory:]

•[Metal Knife (1X)]

---

He tapped onto it, and it didn't even take a single second for it to materialise in his palm.

His grip tightened onto its hilt as he took a deep breath. "Let's dance." He said, voice steady.

His body blurred as he moved towards the Imps, which were rushing towards him.

He reached them before they could. He twisted his knife, took his elbow slightly back and swung towards the first Imp and beheaded it instantly.

He didn't wait for them to settle, he moved once again, and this time, he also used the skill [Shadow Pierce], the mana left through his palm and took one out.

He continued doing that until only 10 of them were left.

When they finally realised that their members had fallen, they ran back inside the puddles of water from where they came.

Silence fell into the room, the only voice inside the chamber was the ragged breaths of Leon.

He had his guard up, his stance was still solid and his knife was in front of his face, and his elbows were tucked in, as if he was ready to strike whatever came in front of him.

'Did they retreat? No, I don't think so. The Imps are intelligent creatures. This must be one of their tricks.'

His eyes scanned the entire chamber, gaze shifting from one puddle to the other. 'There's no kind of movement in them, just stillness.'

He was still scanning the chamber, but an Imp lunged at him from behind.

It struck him on his neck with its sharp claws, a loud groan escaped through his mouth as he raised his hand instantly and grabbed the Imp by its throat and used his other hand to strike the knife into its throat.

[Damage sustained: 400]

The Imp's bloodstream broke, and the blood started to spray out, some of it fell on his hand as he threw the body onto the floor.

'What the fuck, that was way too sudden.'

[Health: 1200/1600]

His health bar appeared in front of his eyes. "Tch, that sneaky bastard took a lot of health in just a single attack."

Before he could use a potion, one more Imp lunged at him from the front, but this time his eyes caught it before it could sneak up on him.

His hands moved in a fluent wave as he used [Shadow Pierce] and struck the spike straight into the neck of the Imp.

There were only eight of them left, a smirk curled up on his lips as he sat on the ground. 'Time to make a fool out of them.'

He kept his knife on the ground beside him and opened his inventory.

[Inventory:]

•[Common Potion: 5X]

His finger extended towards the panel, and he tapped onto the potion, and it materialised in his palm.

He plucked the cap off the potion, put his lips onto it and started to drink.

[Health Restored: 200]

[1400/1600]

The remaining Imps finally came out from the water and started walking towards Leon with their claws out, their steps were slow.

When they closed a slight distance between them, a wicked smirk curled up on Leon's lips as he moved suddenly.

"Gotcha, bitches." He extended his hand and used his skill [Shadow Pierce] and killed two of the Imps, picked his knife up from the ground and killed the rest of them.

There was only one of them left, the last Imp looked at him, its body was covered in sweat as it groaned loudly and ran towards the water puddle to jump into it.

When it reached near the puddle, it jumped, and a small smile curled up on its lips.

But before it could even jump inside, a spike pierced it through its chest, and its blood came out through its mouth and eyes.

It fell into the puddle, and the chamber finally got cleared. The path to the next chamber also appeared.

He thought that 'I'd let it run away from me, pathetic fool.'
