Fuze arranged a secret meeting between us and the king of Blumund in three days, but before that, we will be meeting a noble to discuss how the relationship between Tempest and Blumund will go from now on.
So the next day, we arrived at the noble's manor.
"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, master of Land of Monsters. I am Veryard, one of the ministers of Blumund. May this begin a long and fruitful relationship."
"Nice to meet you. I am Rimuru Tempest. I am not familiar with local customs, so please excuse me if I happen to cause an offense."
Rimuru is really overly humble for a ruler of a nation.
"I am Sasuke Uchiha."
After some pleasantries, we came at the main topic.
Negotiations for Blumund and Tempest realising formal diplomatic relations.
Blumund put two conditions.
1. A guarantee of mutual security between the two countries.
2. A guarantee of free passage between the two countries.
Quite an outrageous first condition.
On the other hand, Tempest also put two conditions.
1. Official recognition of Tempest as a sovereign nation.
2. Use of Tempest's currency, Tempest coins in the trade between Blumund and Tempest.
A Tempest coin will be the of the same value as a Dwargon coin of same material.
Veryard hesitated with our second condition.
"Trading in Tempest's currency..."
I said, "It's a fair condition. If we compare the military power between Tempest and Blumund, the mutual security obviously benefits Blumund a lot, with almost nothing for us in return.
Furthermore, we have already established relations with Dwargon, so in the future, you can use the forex reserves in our currency for trade with Dwargon as well.
More importantly, you will not find better quality silk and potions than Tempest in the whole world.
Especially, a Full Potion is only produced by Tempest, and can only be bought by Tempest's currency."
"What's a Full Potion?"
"It's almost a miracle. In fact, Blumund can trade Tempest currency in their forex reserves at higher rate to other nations to profit from it. Fuze, can you fetch the proctor for Adventurer License from yesterday?"
"Ah, sure."
While Fuze went to get that guy, Rimuru started arguing on Blumund's second condition.
"We can provide the passage, but not for free. We will apply some tarrifs."
I nodded and said something else I found risky about it.
"Moreover, this should only apply for citizens of Blumund, not from other countries that are just coming through Blumund. Otherwise, someone hostile will be able to sneak into our country."
"Yeah, I didn't think of that..."
Rimuru muttered.
Sigh. Even if you didn't think about it, atleast don't mutter in front of negotiator.
Fuze brought the guy I wanted, with a stump for his leg.
I took out a potion from my wrist seal.
"This is a Full Potion. It can heal you as long as you are alive. Even limbs."
"What!? There is no way a thing like this exists!"
I gestured to the guy, and he removed his stump, but not really believing my claim.
But when I poured the potion where his leg should have been, it started regrowing.
In moments, his lost leg regenerated.
"What!? How is this possible!? I... I can return to being an adventurer again!"
After seeing that, Veryard no longer argued, and he accepted our conditions, along with agreement on tariffs as well on passage and requirements of being a Blumund citizen to pass.
And two days later, we went to the palace to meet the king.
Veryard read the terms, and the king just nodded.
Rimuru and the king signed the treaty, and Tempest was now recognised officially by another country other than Dwargon.
"Ho ho ho! May this be a long and prosperous relationship, Sir Rimuru!"
"Let us hope."
"And if the Eastern Empire should invade, we will certainly appreciate all the help you can give us!"
"Of course, huh!?"
"Well, so long!"
The king bye bye'd us.
Eastern Empire?
But the neighbouring regions to that Empire are Dwargon, Great Jura Forest, and Puppet nation Distave.
Normally, Blumund shouldn't have to worry about an Empire so far.
They don't have a coast either, so it's not like Navy will invade directly.
So either large scale teleportation... or air raids?
...I guess I will have to investigate Eastern Empire.
Because if it wants to expand westwards, Great Jura Forest will be the best land route. Since Dwargon has mountainous places and is normally a neutral country, and Distave is the territory of a Demon Lord.
Conquering the resource rich and vast forest while Veldora is not present is a rare opportunity afterall.
On another note, Rimuru somehow didn't know that a mutual security treaty will obviously include invasions from other countries.
Though I guess Blumund deliberately used the word 'security' instead of 'defence'.
...Being a diplomat is no easy task huh?
