Chapter 10 - First Time Above the Clouds

Parampal Singh pressed his forehead lightly against the small airplane window, unable to look away. The engines hummed beneath him, a deep vibration running through the entire cabin. The plane had already lifted from the runway, but he still couldn't quite believe it.

He was flying.

For the first time in his life, he was truly above the world he had known.

The city below shrank into patterns—tiny roads, tiny houses, tiny lives moving on as if nothing extraordinary was happening above them. Parampal Singh watched until everything blurred into soft colors, until the land dissolved into mist.

Then, suddenly…they broke through the clouds.

The cabin filled with a gentle white glow. Outside, the world transformed into something unreal—an endless sea of clouds stretching as far as his eyes could see, glowing gold under the sunlight. It looked like another planet, calm and untouched.

Parampal Singh breath caught in his throat.

He had seen photos before. Videos. Films. But none of them felt like this.

This felt like discovering a new universe.

The seatbelt sign chimed softly, but he barely heard it. His heart was still climbing, higher than the plane itself. The worries he carried, the fears he had whispered to the night—they all felt distant now, left behind with the shrinking buildings below.

Up here, it was quiet.Up here, it was peaceful.Up here, he felt small in the best possible way.

He glanced around the cabin. Some passengers slept. Others scrolled their phones or flipped through magazines. A child near the aisle giggled each time the plane tilted slightly. Life continued as normal for everyone else.

But for Parampal Singh, this was a moment he would never forget.

He closed his eyes, letting the hum of the engines settle into his bones. A realization formed inside him, soft but powerful:

"The world is so much bigger than my fears."

When he opened his eyes again, sunlight flooded the window, painting the clouds in shades of orange and white.

Parampal Singh smiled to himself.

For the first time in a long time…he felt limitless.
