Chapter 11 - Touchdown: A New World Begins

The wheels touched the runway with a soft, sudden thud, and the cabin filled with a quiet ripple of movement. Seatbelts clicked open. Overhead compartments popped as people reached for their bags.

Parampal Singh sat still for a moment, letting the reality settle in.

He had arrived.

Outside the window, everything looked unfamiliar—the signs, the vehicles, even the way the light fell across the airport grounds. It was strange how a single flight could carry him so far from everything he had known.

As he stepped off the plane, a rush of cool air greeted him. The sounds of announcements echoed in a language he didn't understand, yet somehow that made the moment even more exciting. He wasn't meant to understand everything right away.

This was the beginning.

Walking through the terminal, Parampal noticed the small details—the polite bows, the orderly lines, the quiet efficiency of the airport staff. Every movement felt deliberate, respectful, different. It made him aware of how deeply culture shaped even the smallest actions.

At immigration, he handed over his passport. The officer studied it briefly, stamped a page, and slid it back across the counter. That simple stamp felt heavier than ink.

It was proof.

He was officially somewhere new.

Collecting his backpack, Parampal paused near the exit doors. Beyond them waited a city he had only imagined—streets full of stories, people he had yet to meet, lessons he hadn't learned.

He took a slow breath.

Fear was still there, quietly present. But it no longer controlled him. Curiosity stood taller now, stronger.

When the doors slid open, the city welcomed him with a rush of motion and sound. Trains glided past. People moved with purpose. Lights flickered even in daylight.

Parampal stepped forward.

A new country.A new chapter.A new version of himself.

And the journey—had only just begun.
