Chapter 85 - Chapter 85 — The Solar-Powered Mini Car

Finding a vehicle suitable for the tiny folk was… a nightmare.

Every toy car had the same fatal flaw:

they needed remote control.

None were built for "sit inside and drive."

Because honestly, which genius toy designer would imagine a three-centimeter driver?

Li Daoxuan had already tested remote-controlled cars and planes himself.

But whenever he tried to steer them beyond the visible limits of his box-world, they slammed straight into the glass wall.

Clearly, the box's "anti-cheat system" was restricting him. It wouldn't let him extend influence beyond his visible range.

Otherwise, he could slap a camera on a tiny tank, drive it outside the visible zone, and flatten the world.

No way the system would allow that.

So what he needed was:

a tiny vehicle the little people could drive themselves.

Which was basically impossible.

He scoured every online marketplace. Absolutely nothing.

Just as he was about to give up—

his eyes caught a peculiar product tucked away in the corner of a shopping page:

A miniature solar-powered car.

(see picture in chapter reviews)

The stats:

3 cm long, 2.5 cm wide, 4 grams in weight.

Runs solely on sunlight—brighter light, faster speed; shade it, and it stops instantly.

A light bulb popped above Li Daoxuan's head.

This is perfect.

This thing is ridiculously usable.

He immediately placed an order, messaging the seller:

"I want this car. I'll pay extra. Ship it with the fastest express—ASAP."

The seller replied instantly:

"Dear customer! As long as there's money, all things are possible! Courier is heading out now!"

By late afternoon, the package arrived.

Li Daoxuan carried it into the sunlight.

The moment he placed it on the ground—

whirrrrr!

It shot forward like a caffeinated beetle.

He covered the solar panel—

it stopped, obedient and lifeless.

Seeing such a miracle of tiny engineering, Li Daoxuan's brain ignited.

Sparks of inspiration were practically creating a house fire.

He grabbed a taxi and sped straight to Cai Xinzi's model shop.

Inside, Cai Xinzi was lounging behind the counter with his feet up, happily humming.

Business wasn't great, but thanks to reselling two ultra-miniature Dao Xuan Tianzun statues for Li Daoxuan, he'd earned enough commission to pay two years of rent.

Life was suddenly beautiful.

When he saw Li Daoxuan, he jumped up like a spring:

"Dao Xuan! What wind blows you in? Come pick any model—anything you want, just grab it!"

Li Daoxuan waved him off.

"I'm here for help. I need you to modify a small toy."

"Modify?" Cai Xinzi blinked.

Li Daoxuan opened his hand.

The solar car immediately sensed light, lunged forward, and nearly dove off his palm. He clapped his hands shut to trap it.

Cai Xinzi recognized it instantly.

"A three-centimeter solar car? What's there to modify?"

"I want to add a steering bar so tiny folk can control direction. Also a brake system and an accelerator."

PFFT!!!

Cai Xinzi sprayed a full meter of nutritional drink across the room.

Li Daoxuan dodged sideways like a kung fu master, and the drink splashed all over a Freedom Gundam model behind him.

Cai Xinzi pointed at the shelves.

"Pick ANY model. Take it and GO. Don't bring up insane modification requests. I can't do it. I really can't."

Li Daoxuan frowned.

"Is it that hard?"

Cai Xinzi slapped the counter.

"It's a THREE-CENTIMETER car! Steering—fine, maybe. I can add something like a hand-tractor handle to twist the wheels.

But a brake system? Accelerator? What am I, the reincarnation of a watchmaker deity?!"

Li Daoxuan clicked his tongue.

"And you call yourself a model maker. Use your brain. What powers this car?"

"Solar energy."

"And if sunlight is blocked?"

"It… stops?"

"Then isn't that a brake? Just block the solar panel."

A metaphorical light exploded over Cai Xinzi's head.

"Damn, you're right! I don't need mechanical calipers—I just need a mini sunshade! Pull the brake lever, shade slides over the panel, car stops!"

Li Daoxuan nodded.

"Exactly. And the accelerator? Pull the shade open."

Cai Xinzi stared at him.

"I'm a model maker… why am I being taught by you? When did you get this smart?"

Li Daoxuan puffed his chest.

"Behold the brilliance of a true genius. Now hurry up and assist your genius brother."

"You didn't call yourself the client this time," Cai Xinzi muttered.

"I don't want to become the villain in my own story."

That night, Cai Xinzi worked overtime.

Li Daoxuan had earned him so much money that he'd been itching to repay him somehow.

This was the perfect chance.

He started by attaching a tiny V-shaped tractor-style handlebar to allow steering.

Then he crafted a sunshade sheet thin as a cicada's wing.

But when it came to creating a mechanical lever that could automatically open and close the sunshade… no way.

The parts were too tiny. He physically couldn't build a moving mechanism that small.

The brake/accelerator system failed.

He could only provide a manual sunshade.

He feared Li Daoxuan would be disappointed.

But the next morning, when he handed it over, Li Daoxuan looked at it for two seconds—then grinned.

"This works. More than enough. Thanks, brother."

"No brake? No accelerator? Still okay?" Cai Xinzi asked weakly.

Li Daoxuan winked.

"Simple. Two drivers: one steers, one pulls the sunshade."

Cai Xinzi stared at him, expression blank.

This is a THREE-CENTIMETER car.

And you're talking about two-person driving?

What kind of mythical beast are you?!

He reached out and touched Li Daoxuan's forehead.

"Brother… did you eat mushrooms today?"

"No."

"So you just woke up too energized?"

"Don't tease." Daoxuan laughed. "Anyway, this one is just a prototype. If it works, I'll custom-order bigger solar cars. Then you can help me install a better steering system and sunshade mechanism."

"Stop calling these insane contraptions 'systems.' It makes them sound high-tech. They're not."
