"Okay little brat someone left a small gift for anyone who is destined to enter this hall first and from the look of things you are the first ,if you are interested just walk to that platform and pick it , depending on your luck you may get something or nothing " a feminine voice said.
Xiao long walked towards a raised platform,tredding those staircases with ease until he reached the top. Honestly those voices didn't explain it was a test .If it was anyone other than the destined one who tried to step on that altar ,they atleast would have been knocked out of the hall or have their conscious erased.They didn't warn him not because they wanted to harm him but they wanted to knock some sense it him but unfortunately he was the one.
Arriving on the platform he sees three floating objects an orb ,a scroll and a ring.Without even thinking he picks up the orb as he feels a deep connection with it as if it was meant to be his , not just the orb but also the ring and the scroll they both seem familiar .Picking up the orb he feels a slight tremor in conscious as the orb drills into his head.He should be terrified but he somehow knows it won't harm him and if it did try the old man won't let it happen.He picks up the ring,nothing abnormal happens , but when he picks up the scroll it turns in motes of light and disappears into his brain.
" Now you should leave little brat we shall meet soon" a crooked voice said. " as if I will ever want to meet you old geezers " Xiao long retorted.
Back at the clan's altar not even a breath of time has passed since Xiao long sat down and chanted the mantra. Unlike the others Xiao long candles lit up in succession not simultaneously ,the first followed by the second till the eighth then the sky shook up and then time stilled for a second or stopped but the world paused . At the altar the ninth candle lit up but no one other than the Clan leader ,Grand elder and the Guardians could see it as an old man appeared on the altar preventing anyone from noticing anything.

The battlefield is divided into 49 layers . Layer 1- 9 corresponds to each realm of cultivation from the first to ninth,as for the other layers only Transcendant realm powerhouses are allowed.
Each clan is allowed entry to each realm if they pay the certain price for opening the battlefield .The life's of their disciples aren't guaranteed thus named the Nirvana trials by some or the Death trials by others.
