Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: The Failed MAN!

Under Daniel's Great Memory Restoration Technique, Elektra finally regained all her memories.

The price, however, was that her face was swollen into a proper pig's head—utterly miserable to look at.

Sensing his ex-girlfriend's tragic condition, Matt felt a stab of heartache.

Enduring his own pain, he hobbled toward Elektra. "Elektra, I—"

Thud!

Elektra delivered another brutal low kick, dropping Matt to his knees again.

With her memories restored, her temper was clearly far fiercer than when she had amnesia.

Especially after realizing she'd been beaten into a pig-headed mess—she was livid.

But she couldn't beat Daniel, so the only one she could vent her fury on was her ex-boyfriend Matt.

"What exactly did Matt the lawyer do to deserve being beaten this viciously by his ex-girlfriend?"

Daniel was genuinely curious.

He couldn't help but reasonably suspect it was related to Matt's overly sensitive physique.

After that vicious kick, Elektra seemed to have vented some anger and calmed down slightly.

She glared with her swollen face and coldly spat out a line:

"The Hand has already set its sights on you. Take care of yourselves."

Then she turned around and left without a trace of reluctance, ignoring Matt's longing expression.

As for her warning, Daniel didn't take it seriously at all.

Just a normal ninja organization.

They don't weave hand signs, they don't have magic eye tattoos—nothing worth worrying about.

"You've done well, Agent Daniel."

Nick Fury sat behind his desk, just like every immobile NPC in every game.

He pulled open a drawer and pushed a new ID and a stack of documents toward him.

"Your Level-6 S.H.I.E.L.D. clearance has been activated. Here are your credentials and the corresponding authorization details. Remember this: Level 6 means access to deeper secrets—and heavier responsibility."

[Mission 'Mystery of the Ninjas' Completed!]

[Rewards Obtained: Level-6 S.H.I.E.L.D. (HYDRA) Agent Clearance Qualification]

[Your S.H.I.E.L.D. (HYDRA) Clearance Has Been Upgraded to: Level 6]

[New System Modules Unlocked!]

[Function 1: Investigation System Upgraded! New Feature Added: 'View NPC Basic Stats']

[Function 2: Morality System Activated!]

[Investigation System: You may now view basic information of NPCs.]

[Morality System: Completing certain goals or specific missions may grant Justice Points or Evil Points. Justice Points and Evil Points do not cancel each other.]

Every time his clearance increased, Daniel's game system unlocked more special abilities.

For example, fast-travel, enemy minimap markers, auto-loot—those conveniences all came from previous rank-ups.

Now, with another upgrade, two new features arrived!

Daniel had the basic investigation function before, but it could only show the NPC's name and title above their head.

Now, the upgraded system could show more detailed information!

He immediately used the function on Nick Fury.

[NPC: Nick Fury]

[Identity: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Level-10 Agent]

[Favorability: 50]

[Description: One of HYDRA's embedded undercover agents. Nickname: Mother-Effing Man.]

Daniel: "…"

Just how badly had HYDRA infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Daniel was speechless. He turned his attention to the newly unlocked Morality System.

This feature wasn't common in games, and he wasn't sure how exactly justice or evil points were earned.

He decided to test it out.

After leaving S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters, Daniel returned to New York City and deliberately chose a neighborhood with poor public security.

Before long, he found his target in a secluded alley.

A young Black man in hip-hop attire.

Individuals like this—standard street thugs—had a 60% spawn rate in chaotic New York alleys, with unusually high equipment drop rates, far surpassing any other country.

When Daniel first started the game, most of his early handgun ammo came from farming these mobs, which temporarily improved New York's public security. The memory remained… oddly nostalgic.

At the moment, the hip-hop thug was snatching a brunette woman's handbag.

A mere human woman was no match for a gorilla; her bag was seized instantly.

But the thug wasn't satisfied. His expression turned lecherous as he eyed the brunette, clearly planning to add a little "bonus quest" to his robbery.

"Hey, excuse me."

A voice interrupted him.

The thug turned around and saw Daniel standing behind him.

His fun interrupted, the thug whipped out a knife and glared viciously.

"Hey, Asian dude, you look pretty handsome. What the hell do you want?"

Then he saw the golden Desert Eagle pressed against his forehead—and his voice shook.

Damn. He had run into a lunatic.

Daniel spoke coldly. "Give the bag back."

"O-okay, okay!"

The thug immediately returned the handbag to the brunette.

[Crime prevented. Justice +0.01]

Just as Daniel expected.

Since it was a superhero-themed game, justice points were almost certainly tied to stopping crimes.

But the amount seemed low. No telling how useful it would be.

"Can I go now?" the thug asked cautiously.

"No."

Daniel pointed at the handbag. "Now steal it again."

Brunette: "???"

Thug: "???"

Bro, what is wrong with you!?

The thug felt he was dealing with an absolute lunatic.

But with a gun at his head, he had no choice but to obey. He stole the handbag again.

"Give it back."

Thug: "…"

So do you want me to steal it or return it!?

You're messing with my head!

If not for the gun, he would've dropped a full RAP battle on Daniel.

The thug returned the handbag again, but this time no justice points appeared.

Daniel instantly lost interest.

Looked like he couldn't exploit the system to farm justice points.

Just then, a figure dropped from above and landed on a fire escape.

"So lively down here. You guys hosting a secret party? Mind letting me join?"

Daniel looked up and saw a guy dressed in a red sleeveless hoodie, blue sweatpants, and a pair of binocular-lens goggles he'd turned into makeshift eyewear.

On his chest was a crude spray-painted spider emblem.

The entire outfit radiated one thing: poverty.

Daniel activated his scan.

[NPC: Peter Parker]

[Codename: Spider-Man]

[Favorability: 10]

[Description: Representative of 'the rich rely on tech; the poor rely on mutation'. Uncle-Killer. Failed MAN.]

The description looked downright tragic.

Feeling the overwhelming loser aura coming off Peter, Daniel immediately categorized him as the "poor rely on mutation" type.

Pathetic. Broke.

That was Daniel's first impression of Peter Parker.

"Spider-Man! Help me! This guy's a psycho!"

The thug recognized Peter as the newly-emerged street hero and shouted for help.

He'd much rather be arrested by Spider-Man than die under Daniel's gun.

And Peter wasn't late.

He had witnessed the handbag theft and knew the thug wasn't a good person.

As for Daniel, Peter assumed he was a civilian stepping in. Strange behavior, sure, but he did stop a crime.

Logically and morally, Peter leaned toward Daniel's side.

Still—Black lives were lives, and Peter couldn't just let someone die.

Peter urged, "Hey, buddy, calm down. Put the gun down. Murder doesn't solve anything."

Daniel narrowed his eyes. "But it solves the people who create problems."

Peter froze for a moment.

That… wasn't entirely wrong.
