Allyson's POV
The sleek SUV glided into the exclusive entrance of Michael's Miami high-rise, and my pulse hammered against my ribs as I gazed up at the imposing tower of glass and steel.
Was he waiting upstairs?
Would I walk straight into his fury?
I shifted toward Albert, desperate for any hint of what awaited me.
He was already stepping out, moving to my door with practiced efficiency.
"Is he there?"
Albert's response was clipped, professional. "Mr. Jade is expecting you."
Before I could ask anything else, he pulled my door open.
I drew in a shaky breath and headed toward the private elevator.
The penthouse doors parted to reveal Michael's domain in its familiar state of shadowed elegance.
I paused at the threshold, scanning the space. Part of me expected him to emerge from the shadows, arms folded, eyes blazing with questions I wasn't ready to answer.
The living area stood empty.
Then his voice reached me, that rich baritone floating down the corridor like smoke.
