Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Sweet Captive

He reached into the box and took out the prosthetic limb.

He didn't know what material this arm was made of; while it was quite light, the surface skin even had a touch sensation almost identical to a real arm.

Of course, more importantly, upon contact, a light blue semi-transparent panel immediately popped up.

[Sweet Captivity]

[Devil May Cry World 1/5]

[Manufacturer: Nicoletta Goldstein]

[Core Component: Simulated Mechanical Prosthetic]

[Synthesis Consumables: 1 small grappling hook launcher, 1 small hydraulic transmission rod, 1 miniature medical device, 1 vibrator]

[Item Description: This is a gentle prosthetic hand, also known as Kyrie's Happy Hand, specifically designed and made by Nicoletta for the usually careless Nero.

It possesses greater flexibility than a real hand.

The material is soft and won't harm the skin, and the vibration function soothes pain.]

[Warm Reminder: Don't get the wrong idea; in reality, this prosthetic hand can actually heal injuries.]

Luca quickly scanned the description on the panel, and his expression immediately became very strange.

'What the hell is Sweet Captivity?! What kind of normal person would consider such a function when making a mechanical prosthetic?!'

'And! Isn't Devil May Cry a damn action game?!'

Luca, who had only heard of the Devil May Cry series but never played it, clearly didn't understand the game developers' thought process.

Considering his current persona as someone whose father had just passed away, Luca forcefully suppressed the urge to vent his thoughts and tried his best to maintain a calm facade, sincerely expressing his gratitude to Pepper Potts.

"Thank you very much.

Actually, my help to Mr. Stark was insignificant; I didn't expect him to still remember me."

As he spoke, Luca simply rolled up his sleeve and, in front of everyone, unhesitatingly attached the prosthetic limb to the stump of his right arm.

Perhaps Tony's artificial intelligence had scanned his data during their last meeting.

This arm was surprisingly well-suited to him; in fact, if one didn't pay close attention to the interface of the severed limb, it would be difficult to distinguish it from a normal arm at first glance.

Moreover, the nerve sensing design was also perfect.

Luca simply moved his arm and fingers, feeling almost no delay, and the range of motion was not limited to just gripping, unlike ordinary prosthetics.

Clearly, Tony Stark truly put thought into making this gift.

However, perhaps considering Luca's youth, this mechanical prosthetic itself merely fully simulated a normal arm.

It had no additional functions, and even its maximum output was no different from a normal arm.

More thought was put into realism and ease of use.

Of course, for ordinary people, such a prosthetic limb was naturally more than sufficient.

Although Luca would likely still use it as a material for synthesis later, at least with this arm, his daily life would be much more convenient for now.

"Mr. Stark has gone to great lengths; I truly don't know how to thank him."

Although he hadn't expected Tony Stark to be so attentive, Luca didn't mind freeloading off this super-rich man.

He had absolutely no hesitation in expressing his gratitude with a few polite words.

Seeing Luca's satisfaction with Tony's gift, Pepper also showed a hint of relief.

Having been informed about the young man's situation beforehand, she believed that if Tony's gift could temporarily alleviate the young man's grief over his parent's passing, her personal visit would not have been in vain.

Moreover, after meeting the young man in person, his politeness and sensibility made her appreciate him even more.

"I will convey Mr. Luca's thanks on your behalf, but there's no need to dwell on it too much.

For Tony, your liking this gift is the best news."

Thinking of Tony, who seemed to have become inexplicably anxious and immersed himself in work since the Battle of New York, Pepper sighed silently in her heart.

Putting aside her worries about Tony for the moment, Pepper Potts took out two business cards from her handbag and handed them to Luca.

"These are my and Tony's business cards.

Tony specifically instructed me beforehand that Stark Industries will provide a lifetime warranty for this prosthetic limb.

If it needs replacement or repair due to malfunction later, you can contact me anytime to resolve it."

After a moment's thought, Pepper Potts added softly,

"If you need help in any other areas, you can also contact me or Tony directly."

As soon as she said this, it once again drew exclamations of surprise from those around them.

And Luca himself, hearing Pepper Potts's very sincere tone, solemnly accepted the two gilded business cards.

'I didn't expect Tony Stark to go to such lengths after just two previous encounters.'

'It seems that, apart from his somewhat unlikable way of speaking and personality, Tony Stark is impeccable in other aspects.'

Recalling Tony Stark's style of action in the movies, Luca didn't say much.

After expressing his thanks, he readily put away the two business cards.

In fact, whether this help was used or not, Pepper Potts's promise given in front of so many people today was already significant enough.

Given the scale of Stark Industries and the social status of Tony and Pepper, even if it was just borrowing their influence, it would greatly benefit his future development.

After once again expressing her condolences for Luca's father's passing, Pepper also chose to take her leave, citing other work she needed to attend to.

As she left, all the guests who had previously held back followed suit.

Some went forward to hand over business cards, while others simply wanted to say a few words and show their faces.

In short, in an instant, the entire funeral venue became empty.

Looking at the backs of these people as they left, Luca chuckled and shook his head.

'Relying on others' residual prestige is still too fleeting; ultimately, only one's own strength can bring status.'

After watching everyone leave, Luca looked back at the empty briefcase in front of him.

He wondered if Tony Stark had done it on purpose; not only were there simple instructions and a maintenance manual inside, but also a separate USB drive.

The attachment on the USB drive clearly stated 'Learning Materials,' indicating that it contained detailed information on the complete manufacturing process and procedures for this mechanical prosthetic.

'Tony Stark wouldn't seriously think I could understand, let alone make, this kind of somewhat black-tech simulated arm, would he?'

Although Luca himself felt that his new 14-year-old brain was indeed agile.

Coupled with his original father's education and guidance from a young age, he had a certain knowledge base in electrical machinery.

But currently, he was at most at the level of participating in a robotics competition.

Given the complex technology of this mechanical prosthetic, even with a complete set of procedures, he couldn't possibly hand-make it.

Well, the company's R&D department was now basically in a semi-paralyzed state after losing its leader, Hermann, his father.

It was estimated that even if the complete data were given to those in the R&D department, it would be difficult for them to perfectly replicate it.

While Luca was contemplating these things, on the other other side, Samira encountered a small problem.
