Chapter 1 - Game launch.

Today was the day, the day everyone had been anticipating and waiting with bated breaths for.

Today was the day LostDivinity was launching. The first of its kind as it was the first deep dive fully immersive game.

The game was said to have the ability to change fates as currency from the game could be converted to real world currency.

So it was understandable that the game had taken the world by storm with over 100 million units of the gaming helmets sold globally before the game even launched.

So you could imagine how excited Kieran was as he rushed back to his dorm room after finally being able to get a gaming helmet after lining up for close to 4 hours at the retail store.

He had spent all his monthly allowance on the gaming helmet choosing to gamble on the games ability to make him more money before he starves, but for now he was doomed to instant noodles and God's good humor.

As he rushed through the dorm corridors he could also over hear other students making plans to meet up with friends within the game and others bragging about their aims and dreams to ride on dragons, lead armies to war, conquer Kingdoms and even become gods.

Apparently, anything was possible within the game or so the game company had promised but as the game was yet to launch, nobody could either confirm or deny those claims.

On entering his room, he found his roommate Dan lying on his bed with his gaming helmet already on his head waiting for the game to launch, he also unpacked his bag and connected his gaming helment to the power source and proped into his bed and got comfortable before putting on the helment and then he pushed the power button on the side.

[ Welcome to the World of Divinity online.]

[ We wish you a pleasant gaming experience.]

" Wait, I haven't created my character yet" Kieran protested.

But there was no reply.

Suddenly he was standing above the clouds, all around him were silhouettes he assumed were other puzzled players.

Then they all started hurtling down with flames trailing behind them as their speed increased towards a massive multi-coloured planet.

As Kieran broke through the atmosphere of this planet, he could also see other comets falling just like him.

As the comets fell, Kieran could see a panoramic view of the game world.

The landscape unfurls in a vast breathtaking sweep, a continent that looks alive with magic.

Rivers like silver snakes, meandering

mountain ranges like slumbering dragons and then a city.

The city follows the style of ancient rome and he seemed to be heading to the largest palatial building.

" Wait .... isn't that the imperial Palace of the main city ? It can't be right ?.

The game talked about being a second life as player birthplaces were completely random and everyone had the chance to experience the life of their characters.

Could he really be this lucky ? Starting out at the imperial Palace as a prince ?

Kieran couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement as the Imperial city expanded before him and the comet he had turned into headed towards the Imperial Palace without slowing down.

In his excitement, Kieran failed to notice that their was another comet heading for the same location he was untill....

Boom!

The other comet crashed into him completely throwing him off course before he could fully descend. He could have sworn he had a faint glimpse of a colosseum before he crashed and then....

[ Ding! Reincarnation successful, please check your character profile ]

When Kieran heard this notification, he discovered that he once more had a physical body.

Before he could do that though, the smell of urine, sweat and unwashed bodies. He could almost also smell the decay and despair all around him.

He was in a dungeon, the smell inside was nauseating, his tongue and lips were parched with thirst and his stomach crying out for food.

" What... What the hell is this ?"

" What kind of situation was this ?"

Kieran cried out, he could have been a prince or at least a palace guard but one fucker had to show up at the last minute and steal his luck.

Kieran couldn't help wallowing in despair, just when he thought his luck had taken a turn for better. The goddess of misfortune had chosen to remember him.

While other players got to start out as merchants, princes, lords, soldiers and warriors, he was reincarnated as a prisoner.

What kind of sick joke was the game developers playing on him.

Before doing anything else Kieran decided to look around, thinking that there maybe a way out. He looked up but the ceiling was dark, too dark to see what material it was made of, turning his head he focused on the walls, they seemed to be made of solid concrete.

" I guess there's no escaping this way."

Looking around he noticed he wasn't alone in the cell and although it was dark he could still make out 5 to 6 vague human silhouettes.

He chose to ignore them for now as he stood up and walked up to the cell bars, placing his hands around the bars and gave them a strong pull with as much strength as he could muster but they didn't as much as let out a single creak.

" What are you doing !" A voice shouted. " Step away from the bars, or I'll give you a good beating."

A young man dressed in an outfit similar to Roman legionnaires standing on the hallway threatened, he seemed to be the warden.

Just then a system prompt appears

[Cross] (Prison warden)

Level 15

Race: Human

HP: 2400/2400

MP: 1500/1500

There was not a single player that could beat him at this stage, it was not possible not even with a team.

"Didn't you hear what I said! The man yelled clearly annoyed as he walked forward while reaching for the sword at his hip.
