Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: See You at the Tavern Tonight

The two Knights left, and Rosaria and Barbara naturally had no intention of staying in the secret room.

"What's wrong?" Walking to the church above, Rosaria glanced at Barbara, who was clearly distracted.

"Nothing… I'm just a little worried about my sister, Acting Grand Master Jean." Barbara said spiritlessly, almost mispronouncing the title.

Jean had been under a lot of pressure recently due to the Dragon Disaster, and Barbara had seen all of it.

And at this point, the Fatui were constantly pressuring Jean to hand over Mondstadt's city defenses to Snezhnaya.

Now, with the theft of the skylyre, if this matter became widely known, she could hardly imagine how severe the criticism Jean would face.

After all, the skylyre was protected by the Knights of Favonius, and this theft was ultimately an oversight by the Knights of Favonius.

"Oh." Rosaria nodded indifferently.

She had vaguely heard about the relationship between Barbara and Acting Grand Master Jean.

However, she didn't think these minor matters could affect Jean much.

"Sometimes I think your sister is a bit too serious. Some small things should be left to others." Rosaria pulled out her pipe from somewhere, intending to light it.

"Miss Rosaria! Please don't smoke in the church!" Barbara immediately stopped Rosaria's action, puffing out her cheeks.

"Hmm? Ah, sorry." Rosaria looked at her in confusion, then seemed to realize that she was still inside the church.

Her apology was insincere, but she still put the pipe back.

"Miss Rosaria, where have you been recently? You missed the last ceremony again…" Barbara asked, feeling a bit tired.

She felt that if Rosaria had been here yesterday, the skylyre would absolutely not have been stolen.

Although Rosaria was self-willed and didn't listen to advice much, and was almost a mess when it came to being a nun.

But it was undeniable that she was very strong, and her combat power was definitely not inferior to several high-ranking members of the Knights of Favonius.

"I've been… recently…" Rosaria's mind flashed with Stelle's figure, but she couldn't easily tell Barbara at the moment.

"I've had some private matters recently."

"Really?" Barbara looked at Rosaria suspiciously; she clearly didn't believe this excuse.

From the first day Barbara met Rosaria, she had worried herself sick over her. She would always chase after Rosaria, urging her to complete her daily duties as a nun.

Therefore, she could still detect some of Rosaria's lies.

"Really. Even if I wasn't dealing with these private matters, I wouldn't attend any ceremonies." Rosaria nodded, then said unceremoniously.

Ceremonies were too troublesome; one had to remain serious throughout and couldn't move freely.

She would rather find a place to sleep.

"That's all for now, I'm leaving."

"Eh? Wait, wait a moment…" Barbara still wanted to say something, but Rosaria had no intention of stopping.

If you have time, you should go see your older sister. She might need your supervision to relax a bit.

"Ah?! Yes, I'm going now!" Barbara quickly stopped following Rosaria and turned towards Acting Grand Master Jean's office.

"That was easy to handle. It seems from now on, as long as I mention Acting Grand Master Jean, I can get rid of this little one…" Rosaria felt she had found a good way to be lazy.

After all, the few church activities she participated in were all because of Barbara.

"You're saying an important treasure of the Westwind Church was stolen?" Star was turning in a quest and heard a very surprising piece of news from Katheryne.

"Yes, the Knights of Favonius are currently conducting a city-wide search. There are reports that this incident is very likely related to the Fatui," Katheryne said as she processed the follow-up to Star's quest commission.

"However, to avoid causing diplomatic disputes, the Knights of Favonius cannot immediately investigate the Fatui's stronghold without evidence."

"Oh~" Star nodded, sighing inwardly at Mondstadt's misfortunes.

The Dragon Disaster hadn't even ended yet, and now someone had stolen something from their home.

"However, there's also another report that the person who stole the treasure was a golden-haired Damselette and someone in green clothes whose gender couldn't be distinguished."

"Oh?" Star's tone changed.

Katheryne mentioned a golden-haired Damselette… In this city, she hadn't seemed to have seen any golden-haired Damselette other than Lumine.

Even if there were, perhaps only Lumine would have the strength to steal something from under the Knights of Favonius's heavy guard, right?

And then there was that person in green clothes of unknown gender.

It also felt familiar.

"Um, besides these two points, is there any other news?" Star asked again.

"Sorry, that's all I know."

"I see. That's alright, thank you for telling me this anyway." Star shook her head.

After collecting the large Reward Katheryne gave her, Star headed towards the alchemy workshop.

She still needed to process this time's spoils of war.

However, on the way, she thought more about the stolen treasure incident.

Would Lumine be the kind of person to do something like that…

As Star was heading to the alchemy workshop, a strange sound suddenly came from an inconspicuous alley beside her.

"Hey~ Star…"

"?"

Star quickly turned to look. A sneaky white figure was deep in the alley, waving at Star repeatedly.

"Paimon?" Star looked at the other party in surprise.

Paimon seemed to have done something wrong, hiding there and constantly motioning for Star to come over.

Star had a bad feeling. She quickly walked into the almost deserted alley.

"What's wrong with you? Where's Lumine?"

"Sigh, it's a long story…" Paimon sighed deeply, spreading his hands helplessly at Star.

"In short, we need your help now. Lumine is a bit inconvenient to see people right now. She sent me to find you."

"Uh, did you really steal their treasure?" Star asked, somewhat speechless.

"If that's the case, it'll be very difficult for me, you know. The Knights of Favonius's investigative Knight is my good friend. I live at her house. If it's discovered that I'm your accomplice, wouldn't that be…"

"Oh, what are you talking about? It wasn't us who stole the skylyre!" Paimon stomped his foot angrily in the air.

"Anyway, come find us at Angel's Share after the tavern closes tonight."

"Angel's Share… I understand." Star put away his playful thoughts and nodded.

According to Amber, Angel's Share was a very old tavern in Mondstadt. Even though it faced challenges from the emerging competitor, Cat's Tail Tavern, it still stood strong in Mondstadt.

She hadn't been to that tavern yet and didn't know if they would offer non-alcoholic beverages.

"Alright then, remember to come~"

"Don't worry, I'll go early." Star himself was a bit curious about that tavern, but before that, he should go see Diona first.
