Chapter 5 - Returning from School

Both Parth and Harshit were gone to get sweet corn.

"Are you fine now?" Chayu asked.

"Yeah, I am. Thanks.." Divina smiled. Her eyes were red.

It was really awkward since both didn't know how to continue.

"Amm... Are you sure you wanted sweet corn though?" Chayu asked gently.

"... Yeah..." She said.

"I mean, won't you get fat?" He joked.

"So?…" she asked like she was not in the mood for laughing.

"…Nothing, sorry…" He felt too awkward but still didn't leave her side. "Hey, I'll drop you home.."

"Thanks..." She said it as if she was still scared.

"Well.." Chayu really wanted to but couldn't say anything. Words didn't come to his mouth.

"Don't worry, Mr. Dummy, I'm really fine now.." Divina smiled.

"Ah.. if that's the case, then that's great..." Chayu said and watched his friends coming back with four sweetcorns.

"Here's yours.." They gave them theirs.

"Didn't you guys say you were full?" Chayu joked.

"Well.. the making was too tempting, so we ordered two more.." Harshit smiled.

"Ohh.." Chayu wanted to tease them but started chomping on the corn.

Eventually they finished eating and moved together.

They reached a fork in a road.

"Seems like we split here.." Harshit said.

"Yeah.. see you guys on Monday.." Chayu gave a smile.

They then split there, and Chayu and Divina continue forward.

While walking, Divina's curious soul awakened, and she curiously asked, "Hey... where did you learn fighting.. I've never seen you fight before.."

"Well... It was Chief who taught me. As for fighting, I don't like fighting, but Chief said to not watch someone getting bullied.." Chayu explained.

"Ohh.. chief…" She was astonished. Chief was an old man at his so-called 30s; it's difficult to imagine him fighting.

"Yeah.. he's a great fighter even if he doesn't look like one.. He had great muscles hidden beneath his jackets." Chayu revealed.

"..." She thought Chayu was joking.

"What? Don't believe me?" Chayu took notice of her expressions.

"Well..."

"Ahh, come on, why would I lie to you?" Chayu pushed the topic.

"Well.. if you say so.." She eventually agreed.

"I'll take you to Chief tomorrow..." Chayu was too motivated to reveal the chief's strength.

"Yeah.. I'm in.." She seemed interested.

"Wha… no, I mean, okay..." This made Chayu perplexed. Why did she suddenly agree so quickly?

(No way! She has a crush on Chief? Isn't he the same age as her father? Chayu thought of something and became more perplexed.

"Why do I feel like you're thinking something rude?" She interjected.

"Huh? ... No way, how could I… haha." He said while stealing glances. She was glaring intensely at him.

"Oh really.. what were you thinking, then?" She asked while Chayu was still lost in thoughts.

"That you're interested in chie.." He blurted unconsciously.

"WHAT?" She finds this unbelievable. Chayu suddenly came back to his senses and was scared.

"How could you think that? You really are the biggest dummy in the world," she scolded with red ears.

"Then why did you agree so suddenly?" Chayu inquired like a detective.

"Oh, hello, Mr. Detective, don't take it seriously…" she said while thinking, (He's the biggest dummy!)

"Seems like we're here.." He said since they reached her house.

"Oh yeah..." Divina was surprised since she thought they were still in the middle of the way.

"Then, I'm off.." He said while leaving.

"Yeah, thanks for today.. I really enjoyed…" She said with a really wide yet too beautiful smile.

"Dodo.." He murmured softly with red ears and red cheeks. Divina couldn't hear it since it was too soft.

He returned to the store of the chief.

"Yo chief! I'm back…" He said it as if he were back home.

"Ahh, brat! Welcome back… but shouldn't you be at home?" The chief acted like a father.

"Yeah, but I missed you..." Chayu smiled.

"Oh really?" Chief was suspicious.

"Yeah…" Chayu said.

"Hey, have you had dinner yet?" Chief asked.

"Although I have eaten just now, I don't mind tagging along if you're going outside.." Chayu was excited.

"Clever brat, aren't you?" Chief was really planning on having dinner outside.

"Hehe," he sounds rather a glutton.

"Okay then, we'll be going after an hour; watch the store till I rerack..." Chief ordered.

"Roger that!" Chayu saluted and sat on the chair.

After an hour of filling empty shells, the chief came dressed up.

"Let's go!" Chief closed the store, and Chayu was pretty excited.

They reached a restaurant that wasn't too big, but they often came here, so it was natural to go again.

"Hey boss! Can we have a table.." Chief asked.

"Of course, chief!" The shopkeeper naturally knew them and offered them a table of two.

"Please call me when you're ready to order." The shopkeeper left them so that they could discuss.

"So what do you want to eat?" Chief asked him.

"Hmm... Maybe this." Chayu pointed at the dish he often eats there. This was his favorite. It was ramen.

"Okay... What else?" Chief asked.

"Just that… I'm not that hungry." Chayu smiled.

"Okay then." Chief pressed the bell on the table, and the shopkeeper came.

"Boss, regular ones, please," said Chief.

"Oh come on, guys, aren't you bored eating the same thing? I'll add something today! That's on me today." The shopkeeper said while looking motivated to feed them well.

"Then you'll have to join us too, boss," Chief said, and Chayu nodded in agreement.

"But... okay." Eventually the shopkeeper couldn't refuse them since they were close.

Hey cooked all the food and closed the shop from inside and took it to the table.

"Let's eat then…" shopkeeper said. Chayu jumped on the food but got scolded by the shopkeeper, "Relax, food isn't running anywhere, and it's still hot."

"Okay, Grandpa," Chayu became an obedient child.

"Haha… he called you Granpa, Boss," Chief laughed.

The Boss smacked Chief's head. "He's partially right; I would be the same age as your father."

"Well... You're a father figure to me, Boss," Chief said since he didn't have parents either. He was just a long boy back then who didn't have anything but hunger. Boss fed him during his childhood and even after that.

"Yeah, we're family, aren't we…" Chayu said with a bright smile.

"By the way, Boss, you know Chayu got a girlfriend…" Chief commented while eating.

"Wow, that's good news…" Boss wasn't expecting that.

"No, Granpa, she's just a friend," Chayu said while being flustered.

"It won't be only 'just friends' if it made you blush," Boss said with experience.

"Well..." Chayu became more flustered and chomped on food like a rabbit.

"Haha… nice to be young. Raong, you should find a girl as well," Boss suggested.

"Come on, Boss, me getting a girl is impossible as hell!" Chief rattled.

"Why not! What's lacking in my boy?" Boss denied.

"Ask girls!" Chief said.

Chayu chuckled, and so did the boss.

They eventually finished eating and washed dishes together.

"Okay, Boss, how much?" Chief asked.

"Just get out.. You just said we're family, and you're acting like a customer now?" Boss scolded.

"Well.." the chief smiled wryly.

"It's getting late… Go now and drop Chayu first, okay?" Boss said like a father.

"Ahh, I might say in his house then," Chief joked.

"Take care, Granpa, thanks for the food," Chayu said while leaving.

As they were going to Chayu's home, their path got blocked by a few people.
