Chapter 4 - First time in Cultivation

Roy strolled through the stone-paved streets of Valinor, eyes darting between the towering buildings and the lantern-lit stalls. The city was louder at night—too loud for someone who'd nearly died twice in forty-eight hours. People laughed, carts rattled, smells of roasted meat drifted through the air… yet he felt strangely disconnected.

Maybe because he was walking with a secret no one else could see.

Or maybe because the System wouldn't shut up.

"System," Roy called out silently, "I need to know more about my family. Everything."

A cold mechanical chime echoed in his mind.

[ Very well. What I know is limited, but here is the truth. ]

Roy slowed his pace automatically. Something about the System's tone felt… heavier.

[ You are the descendant of the Eternal Clan—an ancient clan that existed 10,000 years ago. They were unmatched. Stronger than all five empires combined. Their mastery over the laws of time placed them above every living race. ]

Roy blinked.

"Stronger than five empires? That sounds—"

[ Exaggerated? It is not. ]

The System continued, voice laced with a rare bitterness.

[ When i got created —the Eternal System—they protected me against the Enemies of Time. Those enemies feared what the Clan had built… so they united with the five empires. A union of hatred, fear, and greed. Together, they waged war on your clan. ]

Roy froze.

[ Your clan resided inside the Time Knot—a realm accessible only through the laws of time. Yet even that sanctuary was broken. The enemies forcibly shattered the barrier and slaughtered everyone. Your ancestors were annihilated ten thousand years ago. ]

Roy swallowed hard as a cold breeze brushed past him.

"…Everyone?"

[ Everyone except one. A man of mixed blood. His blood was impure according to the Clan's standards, so they exiled him. He fled to a weak world to hide—from the enemies, from fate itself. That world was "Earth." ]

Roy's heart skipped.

[ That man was your father's grandfather. He had a family… but when the enemies of time finally tracked him down, he left his son and grandson behind so they wouldn't be hunted because of him. He died fighting them. ]

Roy felt a strange heat building in his chest—anger, grief, and a sense of injustice he wasn't prepared for.

The System's voice trembled slightly.

[ Despite the cruelty of his clan, he never abandoned your bloodline. And you are alive today because of him. This is why you must grow stronger… and avenge your clan. Even after ten thousand years, the enemies of time still exist. They were powerful enough to destroy kingdoms back then. Imagine what they are now. ]

Roy clenched his fists.

"…I'll make them regret everything."

His voice was low, sharper than usual, Even when he doesn't know them, But he felt really angry

"I swear it "

He kept walking, mind racing, until another thought struck him.

'I still need the second piece of the Spirit Weapon… the auction. I'll have to take it no matter who buys it.'

The thought felt dirty, but he pushed the guilt aside.

'Whoever buys it will definitely be rich. They'll live without it. And they don't even know what it is.'

He spent the next hour memorizing the city layout—alleys, rooftops, guard patrols. If he was going to steal anything, he needed to do it perfectly.

"System," Roy asked quietly, "what's my current essence level anyway?"

[ Because you awakened your essence forcefully, your core is damaged. You must absorb Aether Force to repair it. Begin now. ]

Roy looked around until he found a half-collapsed building at the edge of town. Perfect. No one would bother him in here.

Inside, dust floated in the air, and broken wooden planks littered the floor. Roy sat cross-legged.

"So… how do I absorb this Aether Force?"

[ Each race has its own method. For you—the Master of Time—your body already possesses time laws. You must simply "sense" the Aether first, then allow your essence to pull it in. ]

"That doesn't sound simple at all."

[ It is not. But you can begin now. ]

The, What happens when I understand the laws of time myself? "

[ You will be able to make your skills stronger, and increases the speed of absorption of Aether Force ]

" fair enough "

Roy closed his eyes and inhaled. Minutes passed. Then an hour. Then another.

He focused until everything fell quiet—his breath, his heartbeat, even the wind.

And then—

He felt it.

A faint glow. Tiny sparks drifting somewhere around him.

Not with his eyes—he felt them with something deeper.

His essence reacted instinctively, reaching outward. Not with hands, but with energy. And suddenly—

he grabbed one.

A tiny strand of Aether Force.

It resisted, like pulling a rope from thick mud. Sweat gathered on Roy's forehead. But slowly… painfully… the strand touched his skin.

His pores opened—

and the Aether was sucked in.

A chime echoed:

[ Ding! First molecule of Aether Force absorbed. Begin purification. ]

"How do I purify it?"

[ Rotate it through your meridians. Then guide it into the core of your essence. ]

Roy obeyed. Warmth spread through his veins, like liquid fire tracing every pathway in his body. When it reached his essence core

Another chime.

[ Ding! Essence upgraded. Status Screen unlocked. ]

A black screen flickered before him.

Roy's jaw dropped.

"What— I jumped an entire main realm?!"

[ Because of your Bloodline and Eternal Body. Each main realm contains four minor realms: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Perfect. ]

Roy exhaled sharply.

" Well… guess I'm not weak anymore, By the way, Is my last name Kalsifini? " He only knew his parents' names, Last name not known.

[ correct ]

" alright, then, let's go out here "

He pushed himself up and stepped outside.

Still daylight.

"Wait… System, how long was I cultivating?"

[ The entire day. ]

Roy froze mid-step.

"…THE ENTIRE DAY?! The auction! I'm gonna be late!"

He sprinted through the streets, nearly crashing into a fruit stall.

---

A luxurious golden building rose ahead, glowing under the sunset.

In front of it stood a girl—blonde hair, emerald eyes, a violet cloak embroidered with royal silver threads.

Kit Valinor.

She didn't look pleased.

Her foot tapped softly against the marble step. She tried to hide it… but she was definitely annoyed.

A few seconds later, Roy skidded to a halt in front of her, breathless.

"Sorry! I was—uh—doing something really important."

Kit didn't answer immediately. She simply turned.

"Let's go in."

Her tone was short—but beneath it, Roy noticed something else.

Surprise.

Confusion.

Curiosity.

She scanned him once, eyes narrowing slightly.

'His aura… it changed. He grew stronger in one night?' she wondered.

Roy didn't notice. His mind was on one thing.

'I need that Spirit Weapon fragment. No matter what.'

Even if it meant stealing.

Or worse.

He followed Kit through the grand, gold-lit entrance.

The real hunt… was about to begin.
