Mr. Alvin walked in, papers in hand. "Welcome, class! Today we have two new
transfers from Saint Cottlete School."
The door slid open. Two students walked in—a confident girl with sleek hair and a
quieter boy trailing behind her.
"Hi! My name is Celia, and this is my brother, Drake!" she said.
Celia smiled brightly as she sat near Cin. Drake sat in the corner, headphones around
his neck, eyes calm and unreadable. There was something mysterious about him.
"Hi, Celia," I said. "I'm JJ. That's Keifer, that's David, that's Edrix, and that's Cin."
"This is my brother. He doesn't talk at all," Celia said teasingly.
"I do talk, Celia," Drake replied, glaring lightly.
"Sorry about my sister. She's just a bit crazy."
Celia giggled and started chatting like she'd known everyone forever. Drake, on the
other hand, just nodded politely and looked out the window.
When Keifer caught his gaze, the two exchanged a brief look—something sharp yet
unreadable. A quiet understanding? A challenge? I couldn't tell.
The day went on, but a strange new tension settled over the room. Whatever it was, I
had a feeling things were only getting more interesting.
