Chapter 375 - Chapter 375: Misty Returns!

Chapter 375: Misty Returns!

Two hours later...

Aunt May returned from her walk. She glanced upstairs, then sat down on the sofa with a heavy sigh. She was pondering whether Felicia was still up there and how she should address the situation with Silas.

Silas had insisted he hadn't broken up with Misty, yet Felicia claimed to be his girlfriend. To make matters worse, the two of them had been so bold as to tell her to "close the door" right in front of her face.

"Phew~" Aunt May rubbed her temples. Her nephew had grown up, but this behavior was wrong. He already had Misty; what was going on with Felicia? As an elder, May felt she had to pull Silas back onto the right path. If he chose Felicia, he had to break things off with Misty clearly.

As she sat there lost in thought, footsteps echoed from upstairs. May straightened her back, peeking out of the corner of her eye to see who it was.

"Aunt May?!" Silas was surprised to see her already back on the sofa.

May felt a wave of relief. If it had been Felicia coming down alone, she wouldn't have known how to look at the girl. Silas, however, was family she had raised; he would be easier to talk to.

"Silas, come here," May beckoned.

Silas knew the "judgment" was coming. He walked over with heavy steps, feeling incredibly awkward. Who could have guessed Felicia would be so wild as to ask Aunt May to close the door?

"Sigh~" May's words turned into a long sigh. "You said you didn't break up with Misty, right?"

"Uh... right. We didn't." Silas lowered his head like a child waiting for a scolding.

"You're eighteen and an adult now. Ordinarily, we wouldn't interfere in your life, but I feel I must say something. Misty is a good girl, and we've met her parents; we get along very well. If you don't love Misty anymore and prefer Felicia, then you need to be honest with Misty. I understand why you're tempted—Felicia is very... alluring to young men. But between her and Misty, you can only choose one to walk down the aisle with. Do you understand, Silas?"

Aunt May spoke from experience, earnestly trying to guide him. Silas accepted the lecture humbly. If he were a bit bolder, he might have said: Only children make choices; I want them both.

"Also, here." May pointed to her own neck.

Silas instinctively touched his neck and looked at his hand—it was covered in lipstick marks.

"Next time, even if... well, just remember to look in a mirror." May handed him a small compact mirror from her bag. "I'm going to prepare some food." She patted his shoulder and headed to the kitchen, deciding not to ask if Felicia had already left.

"Man, that's a lot of red marks~" Silas muttered, looking in the mirror. He glanced at May in the kitchen and immediately summoned a Shadow Ninja.

"Clean this off," he whispered. The ninja produced a makeup remover wipe and scrubbed away the marks Felicia had left. Felicia had actually slipped out half an hour ago to avoid another awkward encounter. Apparently, in the heat of the moment, her "brain had short-circuited," causing her to ask May to close the door.

Ding-dong! Ding-dong!

The doorbell rang. The Shadow Ninja vanished instantly into the shadows.

"Who is it?" May called out from the kitchen.

"I'm not sure." Silas wondered who would visit at this hour. Ben wasn't home yet, and Peter was on his date with Gwen.

"Go get the door, Silas. I'm busy with the salad."

"Okay." Silas did a final check in the mirror. Seeing his neck was clean, he opened the door.

Click!

"Surprise!" A stunning girl in a white bodycon skirt stood there with a vibrant, youthful smile.

"Oh my god..." Silas's jaw nearly hit the floor.

"Long time no see, Silas! Did you miss me?" Standing there was Misty Barron. She took off her sunglasses, her face beaming, and lunged forward to give Silas a big hug.

"Ahem! Don't hug for too long. It's not proper for a lady." Misty's father, Hugh, stood behind her with a dark expression.

"Oh, hush. It's perfectly normal for a couple who hasn't seen each other in ages. If we weren't here, it would be even more 'passionate'," Misty's mother, Lydia, said, pulling Hugh aside. She couldn't stand how he always targeted Silas.

"I... of course I know that." Hugh turned his head away, choosing "out of sight, out of mind."

"Misty... what are you guys doing here?" Silas stared at the family. Weren't they supposed to be in Massachusetts?

"Misty thought you were too lonely at Empire State University, so she made me arrange a transfer for her," Hugh explained grumpily.

"Ignore him," Lydia nudged Hugh and smiled warmly. "Misty missed you too much, so she begged us to help her transfer to Empire State."

"I see... that's great~" Silas forced a smile, though he was screaming internally. Usually, a transfer would be fine, but the timing—immediately following the Felicia incident—made his expression a bit strained.

"What's wrong, Silas? You look like you have something on your mind," Misty asked.

"Nothing! Not at all. Come in, have a seat!" Silas quickly diverted the topic.

"Silas, who is it?" May walked out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on her apron. She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw Misty's family.

...Is this a joke? May thought, her mind going numb. The timing couldn't be worse.

"Hi, May! Long time no see. You look more beautiful than ever," Lydia said, arriving at May's side to catch up. It was true; as the Parkers' circumstances improved, May looked younger and more radiant.

"Long time no see, Lydia. Can I get you all something to drink?" May asked quickly. She felt incredibly awkward. She couldn't exactly say: Listen, Lydia, my nephew just cheated on your daughter.

"Just some water is fine." Being a professional woman, Lydia noticed May's odd expression. She wondered if something had happened in the house or if they had arrived at a bad time.

"Okay!" May nodded and went to get the water. Hugh sat on the sofa, looking disgruntled.

Slap! Lydia smacked Hugh's arm. "I'm telling you, if you say one wrong word, you're in trouble when we get back."

"Don't worry, I won't!" Hugh gave a radiant, forced smile that carried a hint of chilling misery. He was complying for now, but in his mind, he was swearing that in his next life, he would be the boss of the house.

"Silas, did something happen at home?" Misty whispered into Silas's ear.

"Something? No, nothing." Silas shook his head with a fake smile. Things had definitely happened, but he couldn't say a word.

Misty nodded, then grabbed his hand. "Let's go to your bedroom to chat."

"The bedroom?!"
