Chapter 11 - Weaving Baskets

Minho turned back and Hayoon pointed at the hillside behind the cave. "Can I cut some small-leaf vines? I want to weave a few baskets."

His red eyes swept over her, examining her as if judging whether her body could handle it.

After a moment, Minho said, "I'll cut them."

Hayoon was stunned and quickly waved her hands in embarrassment. "I can just ask Haeun to go…"

But Minho had already picked up his tools and walked off.

Beastmen indeed had immense strength.

In just a short while, he returned while carrying a huge bundle of small-leaf vines.

When the vines hit the ground, they landed with a loud thunk.

"Is this enough? If not, I'll go cut more from elsewhere," Minho said.

"It's enough, enough!" Hayoon replied, noticing that he had cut the vines selectively instead of clearing the entire area.

It seemed that even in this ancient era, beastmen understood that plants helped stabilize soil and prevent erosion and that cutting everything at once could cause landslides.

Perhaps this was the wisdom their ancestors had passed down through generations of living on this land.

"Thank you so much," Hayoon said repeatedly, then called Haeun over to start removing the leaves.

Seeing that Minho seemed about to sit down and help, Hayoon immediately said, "You've worked hard all day. Go rest. Haeun and I can handle this just fine."

She already felt guilty enough eating and living under his roof for free, how could she let him help with her work?

Minho's red eyes studied her for a few seconds. Then he finally responded with a simple "Mm" and turned away.

His figure disappeared into the cave entrance, and right after, Hayoon heard the faint rustling sound of something crawling.

Even though she knew he meant her no harm, whenever she thought of his terrifying giant serpent form, a chill crept down her back.

She shook her head, pushed aside the distracting thoughts, and focused on working with Haeun.

Haeun mostly helped by stripping leaves or handing her tools.

The basket weaving was done by Hayoon herself.

Before transmigrating, she had dealt with crops every day and knew the theory of basket weaving, though she'd rarely practiced it.

Fortunately, the weaving skills of this era weren't bad.

Even the grass skirt Beom wore was a woven product.

In the original body's memories, there were many weaving techniques, whether it round baskets, long baskets, even the gourd-shaped ones she knew all of them.

Relying on those memories, Hayoon quickly found her rhythm and her weaving speed turned faster and faster.

Immersed in her work, time passed very quickly.

When she finally looked up, the sky was already completely dark.

Haeun yawned and asked, "Sis, we used to manage with just two baskets for gathering. Why did you suddenly weave five?"

Hayoon was grateful that young beastmen had pretty good eyesight.

Borrowing the faint light, she finished off the basket in her hands.

"I need them tomorrow. You go sleep first, I'll be done soon."
