Chapter 89 - Building the Spinning Machine

If it had been a large weaving machine, she would have needed to keep it hidden.

But then again, she could not build a large weaving machine that easily anyway.

While she was thinking, Hayoon noticed that the surroundings had fallen completely silent.

She looked around at the stunned and dazed faces and asked, "Do you... not want to make it anymore?"

Ahri took a sharp breath. Although she found her voice again, it was still trembling.

"N no, it's not that! Of course I want to! It's just that something this good, you are willing to let us build it together..." Her eyes turned red. "You are really too kind."

Hayoon looked at her, and her heart was also deeply moved.

The goodwill she gave seemed, in the eyes of these people, larger than the sky itself.

That was enough.

Her expression softened as she curved her lips and spoke in a slower tone.

"I already discussed this with your chief. I will be responsible for improving weaving tools. And I am not giving away the spinning machine for free. After it is made, anyone who wants one will need to trade for it."

"However, don't worry. The idea is mine, but you will provide materials, tools, and labor, which will offset part of the cost. In the end, you will all be able to afford it."

Even so, the people of the Voz-Karr Tribe still felt overwhelmed and embarrassed by her generosity.

Chorong stepped forward and nodded as he explained to everyone.

"Yes, we already agreed at the beginning that any new tools made would be exchanged for supplies."

Then he turned to Hayoon. "Your idea is valuable. It is right that you receive supplies for it. If you did not, we would be the ones feeling uneasy."

Ahri also came back to her senses and said sincerely, "Yes, Hayoon. Honestly, you could have charged us more. Just letting us help you build it already makes us very satisfied."

But Hayoon remained firm.

"One thing is one thing. Business rules cannot be broken. Otherwise, who would trust trading with me in the future?"

Ahri opened her mouth, thinking that at least she personally would trust her completely, no matter what.

Everyone did not want to make things difficult for Hayoon, so they eventually agreed.

Since they were going to build a spinning machine, they selected a new group of people.

Minho would definitely be the main force, along with Chorong, Ahri, and several others.

They cleared a new open space.

With a clear idea in mind, Hayoon picked up a wooden stick and began drawing on the ground.

"The spinning machine has several components. For example, long wooden blocks like this, about this length and this width..."

Aside from the few people standing behind her listening intently, the people in the distance who were spinning thread and weaving cloth were also very interested, occasionally stretching their heads to look over.

Hayoon spoke for a long while, then picked up the wooden stick in her hand and concluded.

"Basically, it is like this."

Chorong and the others looked at the "diagram" on the ground, their expressions becoming more and more confused.

Ahri asked, "With just a pile of wooden sticks, blocks, and strips, you can really make a spinning machine?"

After saying that, she realized something was wrong and quickly explained with a red face, "I am not doubting you."

Hayoon smiled and said, "I know. I am not entirely sure whether it can be assembled successfully either. We will just carve out all the parts I need first, then adjust things if we run into problems."

Everyone looked at Hayoon with shining eyes and responded in unison.

"Alright!"

Even though she had experienced this several times already, Hayoon still was not fully used to this kind of atmosphere.

Minho was a warrior of the Ur-Shet Tribe, Chorong was the chief of the Voz-Karr Tribe, and Ahri and the others were also important members of their tribe.

Yet now, all of them were cooperating so naturally, waiting for her instructions.

She tried to keep a calm expression, cleared her throat, and said, "Minho, you are responsible for making the wheel part. Ahri will handle the axle. Chorong will take care of..."

The first step in building a spinning machine was gathering wood.

Soon, Chorong had people from the tribe deliver several kinds of wood for Hayoon to choose from.

She could not immediately tell which one was best, so she could only test them slowly.

Everyone split up the tools and sat in their assigned spots, carving wood according to Hayoon's instructions.

While working, Hayoon also acted as a supervisor, reminding everyone how to adjust things.

To improve accuracy, she even marked the wood with charcoal.

Once they became busy, she no longer noticed the gazes around her, nor the passage of time or even her own hunger.

Everyone worked with full focus from morning until afternoon, and the first batch of parts was finally completed.

At this point, no one knew how Hayoon would assemble it, so they stood behind her, watching curiously.

Hayoon's dark eyes shone with focus.

Her slender, slightly calloused fingers hovered in the air, moved from right to left, then paused on the axle.

After that, her expression turned serious.

She picked up one piece after another and began assembling them.

The process was not smooth, because different people had made different parts, and some sizes did not match properly.

Hayoon did not rush. Without lifting her head, she simply raised her hand and said,

"Knife."

Chorong very naturally handed him a black silver knife.

Hayoon took it, lowered her head, and began making adjustments.

The sharpened small knife seemed to come alive in her slender fingers.

Wood shavings fell like snowflakes, making the process oddly satisfying to watch.

After finishing the adjustments, she assembled the part and tested it.

There was no problem, so she picked up the next piece.

Minho stayed by her side the entire time, handing her the tools she needed.
