Finney smiled wryly to himself. He considered his most invincible and powerful skill to be the 'Golden Grand Evolution Technique,' the foundation upon which he feared no one in the future. But at this moment, the Ancient One shattered that belief.
However, he immediately realized he had been getting carried away.
How much power could he, at seven years old, possess? He still couldn't imagine the limits of the 'Golden Grand Evolution Technique.' Compared to the Ancient One, who had lived for nearly a thousand years and wielded one of the Infinity Stones, his current strength was inherently unequal.
Therefore, the 'Golden Grand Evolution Technique' was still invincible; it was just that he was too weak now.
Finney corrected his belief in his heart, and his confidence in being invincible returned. He looked at the Ancient One and nodded calmly, saying, "Thank you for your help back then, Master Ancient One."
The Ancient One, unaware of the many thoughts Finney had uttered in the blink of an eye, smiled modestly and replied, "It was my own decision; fortunately, it didn't affect you."
Then the atmosphere gradually quieted down.
After the Ancient One mentioned this, Finney hesitated to bring up learning magic again, worried that she would demand the 'Golden Grand Evolution Technique' in exchange.
Although the Ancient One didn't seem like that kind of person, his understanding of her was far from deep.
The'Golden Grand Evolution Technique' was described as magic in the system's description; claiming it was a superpower in front of a magic expert wasn't very plausible, especially since the Ancient One had already used it for him.
Most importantly, this power was extracted from the system; if the Ancient One really asked him to teach it, he simply couldn't.
He could teach the Violet Chicken Roll, though, since there was a recipe; with the ingredients prepared, it could be done step-by-step, at most the taste would be slightly different.
Just as Finney was pondering what to do, the Ancient One patted her behind, stood up, and casually drew a circle. A sparking magical circle appeared in the air before her, and on the other side of the circle, she could vaguely see an antique-style room.
A portal!
Finney's eyes lit up; this was one of the two spells he most wanted to learn.
Deep down, Finney didn't think much of Marvel's melee magic, but there were two spells he really liked: one was the portal before him, whose potential even extended to intergalactic travel; the other was the mirror space that didn't affect the material world.
A portal meant he could escape if he couldn't win, a mirror space meant he couldn't escape if he could win.
"It's a pleasure to meet you today, Mr. Helsey!"
As Finney gazed longingly at the portal, the Ancient One walked up to him and said, seemingly preparing to leave.
Finney paused, watching the Ancient One about to step into the portal, quickly regaining his composure and calling out, "Wait!"
But the Ancient One didn't stop, walking straight towards the portal. Seeing this, Finney didn't hesitate and immediately continued, "Master, I want to learn magic from you!"
At this moment, the Ancient One turned her head, revealing a meaningful smile, before stepping into the portal and disappearing.
In the dilapidated factory, Finney stood there, frowning. He still didn't understand why the Ancient One had come, or what the point of her words was.
"Could it be because I'm possessed by a demon?!" If there was anything different about today, it was definitely 'possessed by a demon,' especially since he had just dispelled his powers when the Ancient One arrived. Finney absolutely refused to believe it was a coincidence.
Coincidence didn't exist in the Ancient One's dictionary!
"Could it be that my future self might turn evil?! So she came to give me a heads-up?!" Finney's mind raced. With insufficient information, too many possibilities existed, but the Sorcerer Supremes were always tight-lipped. Trying to get information from them was worse than guessing.
And that last laugh—did she even want to teach magic?!
Finney felt a headache coming on. The Ancient One's sudden appearance had disrupted his relatively peaceful life, especially since he couldn't figure out her motives, leaving him unsure of what to do next.
"Never mind, I'll go find her and get to the bottom of this," Finney finally decided, gritting his teeth.
If she could come to him, why couldn't he go to her? Although Kamar-Taj was a bit far, there was a shortcut through New York, directly from the New York Sanctum.
Having made up his mind, Finney didn't linger at the secret base. After recovering his strength, he returned home.
The moment he entered, Skye, who had been keeping a close eye on him, spotted him. Seeing his dirty and exhausted appearance, she was immediately alarmed and rushed over, anxiously asking, "What happened? Did those two tell everyone?"
"Should we run away? But how do I tell Mom and the others? I know some people online who make fake IDs, maybe I can get some fake IDs? Oh, right, I have some friends in the Netherlands, maybe I can go hide there..."
Seeing Skye suddenly panicking and wanting to run away, Finney was somewhat amused and exasperated. She gently pinched Skye's delicate cheek with her dusty hand to divert her attention before reassuring her,
"It's okay, I just fell off my bike, no one noticed. Don't make a fuss. Even if they do find out, I have a way to handle it, don't worry."
Before today, if S.H.I.E.L.D. had discovered him, Finney wouldn't have had a good solution. The most likely outcome would have been to reluctantly join them. But after today, things were different.
When in doubt, consult the Ancient One!
When the Ancient One left, he called her "Master," and she didn't directly refuse, which showed he was part of an organization, and that's why he dared to go to her.
Seeing the genuine expression on Finney's face, Skye breathed a sigh of relief, then coldly questioned, "Where did you go today? I don't believe you fell."
"I went to take a shower!"
Seeing Skye recover, Finney cheerfully changed the subject, then rushed to the bathroom without waiting for her reply, leaving Skye with an unhappy expression.
After washing up, Finney came out and saw Skye still angry. He knew Skye was mainly worried about him. Considering his recent plans, he thought for a moment and sat down beside her.
"Actually, I didn't do anything. I just went out for a little exercise."
Finney didn't spell it out too bluntly; he knew Skye would understand.
Having just experienced yesterday's bizarre events, Skye naturally wouldn't mistake this exercise for running or anything like that. Hearing this, she couldn't help but worry, "How are you going to exercise? Aren't you afraid of being discovered? Why won't you let me come with you? At least I could keep watch for you."
"Next time, next time,"
Finney said earnestly, employing his delaying tactics.
Actually, Finney was also a little worried about Skye. When she first arrived at this house, he hadn't thought much of it, but later, as Skye refused to change her name, and the name 'Skye' always felt strangely familiar, he gradually remembered that when he was learning about Marvel movies, there was a girl in a spin-off series who seemed to have that name.
He had wondered if it was just a coincidence, but later, as Skye became increasingly obsessed with her parents, he was almost certain that this girl was the one with alien genes.
He vaguely remembered that in that series, her parents weren't in good condition, and she eventually gained the power of vibration because of some kind of 'obelisk'.
But he didn't know much more than that, because the series was too long, and he hadn't finished watching it.
Regarding the Ancient One, I personally think she's still very strong. Like most people, I believe that in the movie, she actually wanted to die, rather than her defenses being insufficient!
