Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 School Trivial Matters

Actually, Finney didn't care about Skye's identity, but he knew it was Skye's unresolved issue. Even though she was happy in this family, she still wanted to know why her biological parents had abandoned her.

"Skye, if one day you also had superpowers, what would you do?"

Finney suddenly asked. In this world, having power was better than not having it. He was eager to become stronger, precisely to protect himself and his family.

  "Eh!? Me!?"

Skye was taken aback, then hesitated before looking at Finney, saying, "Finney, you know we're not related by blood. I was adopted by my parents..."

Finney was stunned at first, then realized what she meant and gave Skye a speechless look. If they were truly related by blood, she wouldn't have superpowers.

"Don't overthink it. Just imagine you have superpowers too. Hmm, let's say Vibration. What would you do?"

  "Vibration?"

Skye looked confused, but seeing Finney's serious expression, she began to think carefully. "I… I'd probably be scared first, like I'm a monster…"

Skye glanced at Finney, and seeing no change in his expression, continued, "Then I'd be curious, wondering where this power came from and what I can do with it."

  "Vibration seems pretty useless."

Skye racked her brains for a long time but still couldn't figure out what Vibration could be used for, making Finney want to laugh.

"Vibration can cause earthquakes! If someone bullies you, there won't be a place for them to stand within a ten-mile radius. You can also emit vibration waves, like air cannons, invisible and colorless, great for sneak attacks."

Skye thought Finney was joking and glared at him, but didn't say anything.

Seeing this, Finney didn't say anything more. Although her strength had increased greatly due to 'possessed by evil spirits,' she was still far from being able to fight against S.H.I.E.L.D. alone.

Only when he's stronger, ideally to the point where he fears no one, can he better solve Skye's problem.

Finney considered having Skye learn magic with him and become a magical girl, but such things depend on talent, and the Ancient One hasn't agreed yet, so he can't make a promise too early.

After a brief chat with Skye and lunch, Finney didn't rush to find the New York Sanctum. Instead, he continued to his shop as usual. Although he had been robbed yesterday, it wouldn't affect his business today.

On the way, Finney considered hiring a security guard, but then he remembered that the shop was only open when Skye was there; when he wasn't, it was usually closed and he was playing on his computer, so having a security guard wouldn't make much difference.

After a busy afternoon, having replenished his empty experience bar, Finney ended his weekend.

The next day, Finney went to school as usual. High school studies in America weren't as demanding as in his previous life, but with graduation approaching, he hoped to maintain good grades.

However, as soon as he arrived at school, he noticed some people secretly watching him and pointing at him. He overheard them and realized it was about Carson's incident.

"Did you hear? The day before yesterday, that genius Hercyz beat up Carson."

"No way! Isn't Carson on the basketball team?!"

"Yeah, who would have thought? Apparently, Carson got really badly beaten, his face was covered in blood!"

  "Why did they fight?"

"I heard it was over a girl, and supposedly that girl is pretty..."

Finney walked around the school speechlessly, ignoring the curious stares. He was used to it when he skipped grades to get into high school and became the school heartthrob, so he didn't care.

Anyway, he was expected to graduate in a month at most, and he was too lazy to explain.

Regarding university, Finney had originally wanted to finish high school like Skye, but his parents strongly opposed his decision because of his top grades achieved to skip grades.

He was worried about where to go to university and what to study, but after what happened with the Ancient One yesterday, he already had an idea.

The school was still in New York, of course, and he chose ancient writing as his major. This was to lay the foundation for learning magic; he wasn't naive enough to think all magic books were written in modern language.

Just as Finney had temporarily settled on his future plans, the other protagonist who was the subject of much gossip at school showed up at his door after school.

  "Hey, Helsey!"

Carson, along with several of his basketball teammates, blocked Finney's way as he was about to leave the school gate with unfriendly expressions.

"What's wrong?" Finney frowned at the group of people surrounding him.

"Were you the one spreading those rumors at school?" Carson stared at Finney with a grim face. Although the wound on his mouth had healed a lot, the scar was still there.

"Do you think I'm that bored!"

Finney looked at Carson expressionlessly. He'd be better off making more Violet Chicken Wraps to gain experience.

Carson remained silent, standing there staring intently at him, as if to confirm whether he was lying.

Seeing Carson remain silent, Finney said impatiently, "What's wrong? If not, move aside."

  "Apologize!"

  Finney paused, looking confused.

"Apologize to me in front of everyone at school, and we'll call it even."

Hearing this, Finney couldn't help but laugh in anger. What was this guy thinking? Although he understood that every student in school cared about their image, that wasn't a reason to bully him.

"Go back to sleep, maybe it'll come true in your dreams."

With that, Finney stepped aside, preparing to walk past Carson, but before he had taken two steps, he suddenly felt some movement behind him. He immediately dodged to the side and turned around to find Carson and his friends trying to grab him.

  "What do you mean?"

Finney's face darkened. He basically never caused trouble at school, and was usually known as a genius. Although he was highly regarded by the teachers, he didn't have many friends. In fact, there were quite a few people who secretly called him a 'bookworm,' but he couldn't be bothered to care.

"Helseys, we didn't want this either, just apologize honestly."

Carson said fiercely, his tall, muscular frame making Finney look rather frail.

"What if I don't want to?"

Finney retorted coldly. If Carson had honestly apologized for what happened that day and then asked for his help in explaining, he might have agreed to help.

But unfortunately, Carson chose the worst possible choice.

"Then don't blame me for being impolite!"

Carson and his friend clenched their fists, making a threatening gesture, which immediately drew the attention of many passersby.

Finney didn't bother with words and directly punched him in the face, causing blood to splatter everywhere.

Because of the 'Golden Great Evolution Technique,' he didn't like to get angry or curse, because his words could actually come true.

An ordinary person might sincerely curse, "Be careful you don't get hit by a car," and nothing would happen, but if he impulsively cursed, "You'll get hit by a car," and even imagined it a little more, then he might actually get hit.
