Huang Yuyan paced back and forth like a trapped bird. Her hands twisted together, her steps uneven, her eyes glistening as though tears might spill at any moment.
Jin Yang watched her for a while before sighing. "Mom, don't be so nervous. Big Bro isn't going to eat you alive."
She stopped pacing and shot him a helpless look. "I know that, son. But your big brother can be… intimidating sometimes. Just like your grandfather." Her gaze flicked toward the elderly woman seated by the fireplace.
Grandma Li was calmly reading a classic poetry collection, her posture straight, her presence unshakable. Without lifting her eyes from the page, she spoke evenly.
"Mm. Jin Di does resemble my late husband in that regard."
Jin Yang shrugged, clearly unconcerned. He slipped on his headphones and started bobbing his head to the music, determined to stay out of whatever emotional storm was brewing.
