Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Encounter, Two Ogres

A wild boar weighing around 200 jin was quickly processed by the skilled actions of the brothers, Ler and Rand.

All of its internal organs were removed and buried in a small pit.

To Nolan, this seemed a bit wasteful; the "Stone" team and Enri Emmot's grandparents seemed completely uninterested in these organs.

Clearly, they didn't have the habit of eating internal organs.

Nolan naturally didn't say anything more.

Don't be fooled by how these people appear as lowly commoners in the anime.

However, whether they were adventurers or Enri Emmot's grandparents, who owned a potion shop, none of them belonged to the ranks of the poor.

The cleaned wild boar meat was placed over a bonfire and began to roast. Soon, layers of fat dripped down, causing the flames to intensify once again!

A fragrant aroma also began to permeate the air.

The captain, Dossar, walked over from the side and sat next to Nolan, speaking in a hearty tone.

Nolan maintained an attentive expression, nodding and responding with a word or two occasionally, but for most of the time, the other person was speaking.

Enri Emmot was the same, very interested in the adventurers' experiences.

Although Captain Dossar was mostly recounting amusing anecdotes from his past adventures, even with some exaggerations, Nolan was still able to glean some useful information from his words.

The next day.

As soon as dawn broke, everyone set off again.

The journey ahead began to become more difficult, especially as they drew closer to the border. The vast, majestic, and towering Angelisia Mountains were already visible in everyone's sight.

The previously relaxed atmosphere also became much more serious.

Along the way!

There began to be more monster attacks, though most were relatively weak beasts!

Nolan smoothly gained a good amount of experience.

The Angelisia Mountains separate the Re-Estize Kingdom from the Baharuth Empire, serving as a natural barrier between the two nations.

According to Captain Dossar, 400 years ago, the two countries were actually one; however, for unknown reasons, the original vast nation was destroyed and then split into the two countries that exist today.

Suddenly.

"Be alert!"

Basc, the archer guarding the back of the carriage, suddenly called out a warning. His ears twitched slightly, and a serious, grave expression appeared on his face:

"Something big is coming!"

At these words, the expressions of the other members of the "Stone" team all subtly changed.

Grandma Lizzie expressionlessly pulled the reins, bringing the carriage to a halt, while Enri Emmot, sitting in the carriage, nervously gripped the wooden railing with both hands.

Nolan noticed the change in expression on the faces of the "Stone" team members and his gaze sharpened.

After this period of interaction, Nolan knew that the archer named Basc possessed a natural innate ability of "hearing" far surpassing that of ordinary people.

His role in this adventurer team, besides providing ranged firepower, also included intelligence gathering!

For him to be so tense, he had clearly heard something terrifying!

However!

Nolan's heart remained relatively calm. The true big shot in this team wasn't the adventurer squad, but Grandma Lizzie, who was driving the carriage.

"Waa! Waa!"

"Waa waa!!"

"...!"

Piercing shrieks, accompanied by rustling sounds from the grass along the roadside, erupted.

Goblins, less than 1 meter tall, with dark green skin, appearing very thin, white pupils, and somewhat vicious faces, appeared in everyone's sight.

There were a full ten of them!

Nolan glanced at these goblins; most of them held wooden clubs and other weapons. Although there were many, they weren't actually much of a threat.

Goblins are a weak but extremely fast-reproducing and low-intelligence race. An ordinary adult, in a one-on-one situation, could carefully manage to solo a goblin.

Moreover, this was the "Stone" team; by level estimation, a silver-ranked adventurer team's average level is between 7 and 10.

Of course, the goblin race also has several types.

Is the real danger still to come?

Nolan's gaze swept past the charging goblins and looked towards the dense forest behind the grass.

Thump!

Thump!

Heavy footsteps approached. Compared to the goblins who rushed out first, screaming wildly, the presence behind them caused a sense of oppression.

"Everyone, be alert!"

Captain Dossar drew the twin swords from his waist and let out a serious, low shout.

"Roar!"

With a beast-like roar.

A figure, over two meters tall, with a stout and muscular build, dark yellow skin all over, and a back covered in a layer of armor-like, short-spiked hide, strode out.

"Is that an Ogre? No! It's two!" The archer Basc spoke with a grim expression.

"Waa waa waa!"

"Waa waa waa!"

The 10 goblins, who had initially been hesitant, gained a surge of courage upon seeing the two Ogres appear. Waving their wooden clubs, they charged towards the carriage.

"Deal with these goblins first!"

Captain Dossar was the first to charge out, raising his right-hand longsword and throwing it forward with a fierce motion.

With a piercing whoosh through the air.

The longsword struck the goblin running at the very front first, the blade accurately piercing directly into the goblin's chest!

The goblin let out a scream of agony, and light green blood gushed out from the sword's penetrating wound, spraying all over the ground!

Captain Dossar also rushed to this goblin's front at this moment, stomping heavily on its chest. He gripped the hilt with his right hand and pulled upwards, and blood mixed with shredded flesh spurted out again.

At the same time!

Captain Dossar swung his left-hand sword, decapitating a nearby goblin with a single strike.

Meanwhile.

The brothers, Gore and Rand, raised their arms, holding the silver shields strapped to them in front of their bodies, and charged forward quickly.

Both of them simultaneously knocked a goblin to the ground, then slammed their shields down, crushing it into a bloody pulp.

Compared to the bloody actions of the first three!

The archer Basc was much more elegant, nocking and shooting arrows with steady movements, quickly taking down two goblins.

In just a moment, six of the ten goblins had already been dealt with by the "Stone" team.

Nolan watched this scene and took a slight deep breath.

He wasn't nervous; he was just slightly disgusted by the bloody scene.

Along this journey, they had encountered scattered monster attacks, so this wasn't the first time he had witnessed such a sight.

But as a modern person, there was still a slight discomfort.

Smelling the fishy (fishy) scent of blood in the air!

Seeing the goblin's head that had been chopped off in the distance, and the body smashed by a shield, Nolan increasingly felt the reality of this world.

At this moment.

Besides feeling a bit nauseous, Nolan also felt a faint, inexplicable sense of excitement.

He suddenly had some understanding of the "Eight Greed Kings" who once plagued the entire continent!

While Nolan was momentarily lost in thought, the remaining 4 goblins were also quickly dealt with by the "Stone" team!

And the two large Ogres, roaring in anger, charged out of the forest at this moment!
