Chapter 128 - protective bracelet

"Do you know what's in here?" Li Qiaodan pointed to a square box on the table. "When I came in, I smelled a delicious aroma of food."

"I don't know. But it smells so good, should we open it and take a look?" George immediately leaned over and stared intently at the box in front of him, which was emitting a delicious food aroma, along with Lee Jordan.

"Do you think... this might be Albert's midnight snack that he brought for us from the kitchen?" Fred wondered, staring at the box in front of him.

"Where is he?" George said. "Just ask him."

"She's taking a hot shower in the bathroom," Li Qiaodan reminded her.

"Why don't we take it apart and see?" The three looked at each other and said in unison.

The next second, all three of them couldn't help but laugh.

George was the quickest; he immediately reached out and opened the box, releasing a rich aroma.

The three of them immediately leaned closer, trying to see what was inside.

A plate of...dish?

That's right, a dish, a very strange dish, one I've never seen before?

But it smells really good.

"I'll try it for everyone first." George picked up a piece with his hand, threw it directly into his mouth, chewed a few times, and said, "It seems to be an egg, and... those green things seem to be... garlic?"

"Damn it, don't use your hands, there's a fork over there," Fred yelled impatiently. "Let me try. I feel like Albert has come up with something weird again."

"So, did he make this himself?" Li Qiaodan asked curiously.

"It was probably made by the house-elves in the kitchen," the twins said in unison.

"It tastes good." Li Qiaodan had just put the food on his fork into his mouth when he suddenly said, "Do you think we should leave some for him?"

Before they finished speaking, the food on their plates was gone.

"It seems… it's too late," George muttered softly.

As they were talking, the dormitory door opened, and the three of them looked towards the door and simultaneously put down their forks.

"What's wrong with you three?" Albert looked at the three of them with a puzzled expression, his gaze shifting to the open box, his face twitching slightly. "Finished eating?"

"I couldn't resist," Fred said awkwardly.

"What's this dish called? It tastes really good." Li Qiaodan tried to change the subject, but George covered his mouth with his hand.

"Sorry," the three said in unison.

"Garlic scrambled eggs," Albert said calmly.

"garlic..."

"...Scrambled eggs?"

Speaking of garlic, Fred couldn't help but look at the pot of garlic on the window, and then his expression froze.

Why is my garlic clove bald?!

"Garlic…could it be?" Fred asked, pointing to the plate of garlic whose leaves had been cut off.

"Um."

"You...cooked it?" George looked at the bare flowerpot and was momentarily at a loss for words.

"I see you're enjoying your meal," Albert said irritably. "Don't worry, spring is here, and the garlic will sprout new shoots soon."

The three of them were speechless.

Honestly, this dish... is really good!

Li Qiaodan coughed lightly and asked curiously, "Did you make this yourself?"

"I had the house-elves help me cook," Albert remarked. "Those little guys are pretty good cooks. I wonder if I can bring one back from Hogwarts to help with the housework after I graduate."

"Mom always wished we had a little elf to help us cook, do laundry, and do housework," George muttered. "Unfortunately, we don't have one."

"Don't even think about it," Fred explained. "Only ancient wizarding families, and the very wealthy ones at that, keep house-elves."

"I don't have any at home either," Li Qiaodan said, shaking his head.

"Maybe paying enough Galleons will do the trick? House-elves must have some origin. Hmm, I'll write this down first." Albert took out his notebook and wrote it down.

"You wouldn't…" All three looked at Albert with suspicion.

"With Galon, most problems can be solved," Albert explained. "Okay, let's not talk about that. Help me with an experiment."

"What experiment?" George asked.

"Throw a pillow at me," Albert said, raising his wrist with the wooden bracelet.

"Are you sure?" The three of them grabbed their pillows and threw them at Albert, but the pillows seemed to hit something strange and actually unfolded.

"How did you do that?" The three of them gathered around, curiously asking Albert how he managed to block the pillow out of thin air.

"This…" Albert took off the wooden bracelet and said, "It is a unique amulet that I made. It has an Ironclad Charm that can resist curses and objects, and it can also effectively repel dark magic creatures."

"I have a feeling you're just trying to fool me again." Fred took the wooden bracelet and examined it closely before asking, "But, there's no denying it's a truly magical thing. Could it be the effect of the strange symbols on the bracelet?"

"I'm not sure yet," Albert said, shaking his head. "This thing needs to be tested many times."

"It's my turn this time," Fred said. "How do you use it?"

"Wearing it on your wrist or holding it in your hand," Albert said uncertainly. "It should work either way."

"I threw it." George threw the pillow at Fred, and the effect was triggered again, causing the pillow to bounce off.

"That's so cool, you've made something amazing." Li Qiaodan was shocked. "I think a lot of people will want this. Imagine... when someone tries to cast a spell on you, you just raise your hand and you can block the curse. That's awesome."

"Next, it's my turn. I'll try the curse and see if it can really bounce back," George shouted excitedly to Albert. "Use the Barrier Charm."

"Obstacles are everywhere." Albert gestured for the others to step aside, then picked up his wand and waved it. Before the spell could hit George, it seemed to be blocked by something, and the spell bounced back, hitting Lee Jordan next to him. He was sent flying and crashed onto the bed.

"Damn it, that hurts!" Li Qiaodan rubbed his back and complained incessantly, "You definitely did that on purpose."

Li Jordan just saw that bastard George reach out and deflect the spell towards him.

"That's so cool, that's amazing."

"It's unbelievable."

The twins looked at each other and said in unison, "This thing can definitely sell for several Galleons."

"You bunch of bastards, come pull me up," Li Qiaodan complained.

"Sorry, I got too excited," George said apologetically. "Are you alright? I really didn't mean to."

"Now it's my turn to test it." Li Qiaodan took the wooden bracelet, got up from the ground, and shouted excitedly to Albert.

"He collapsed unconscious." Albert also wanted to test the limits of the Iron Armor Spell on the wooden bracelet, so he didn't refuse Li Jordan.

However, it seems that Li Qiaodan's luck was really bad. He was directly hit by the Stunning Curse, and the wooden bracelet had no effect at all.

He held the wooden bracelet and then suddenly fainted.

"The bracelet's protection has failed?" Fred asked curiously.

"It might have reached its limit." Albert squatted down next to Lee Jordan and guessed. "After all, this is just a test subject, so it's normal for something like this to happen."

"I think… Li Jordan's luck wasn't very good today." Fred looked at his unconscious roommate with a gloating expression.

"Now, what should we do?" George asked. "Can you wake him up?"

"I think it's better for him to sleep until dawn," Albert said.

"I think so too."
