Cherreads

Chapter 142 - Worth a try

In McDougall's original plan, the book was to be written in three parts, and the parchment he just took out was the second manuscript.

Albert pulled out a few sheets of parchment from the stack and began to read them carefully, using a quill to help correct any flaws in the writing, and occasionally discussing potential problems with the two of them.

Isabel was undoubtedly the most frustrated person here, because she couldn't understand anything and couldn't join in the conversation.

All I could do was stay on the sidelines, helping to organize some things, or flip through the parchments and try to decipher their contents.

"How on earth did this guy learn ancient runes?" Izabel muttered to himself.

"Yes, he is better at reading and studying than Mog." Professor Brod nodded. "At his current level, in a few years, he may surpass 99% of wizards in terms of ancient runes. When he comes of age, I will recommend that he publish a book on ancient runes."

Izebel opened his mouth, but swallowed back all the words he was about to say.

"Don't compare yourself to him. Sometimes geniuses like him appear, it's truly unbelievable." McDougal nodded. "Don't you agree, Mr. Albert?"

"Writing a book? I'll think about that after I graduate from Hogwarts. I don't have any plans for now." Although Albert said that, he was actually seriously considering whether he should write a quick introductory book. There are already books like "An Easy Introduction to Ancient Runes," but after reading it, Albert found it far from easy.

You can create a quick start guide to ancient spells based entirely on the knowledge you gained while upgrading them, just like Miranda's standard spells.

Isabel's facial muscles twitched upon hearing this. Actually, she wanted to say that Albert was boasting, but considering his mastery of runes, it was quite possible that he could actually do it.

Everyone was busy until the afternoon, and lunch was eaten in the office, where the house-elves brought over a sumptuous meal.

After they finished eating, they sat on the sofa and talked about the contents of the manuscript.

Now, Albert understands McDougall's idea: this guy plans to first create a book that's difficult for others to understand, and then write several comprehensive explanations to help everyone interpret it.

As for Izabel, she had already sneaked away after lunch, and it's fortunate that she managed to hold out for so long before finding an excuse to leave.

After all, the three people in the office didn't intend to speak properly, but instead communicated using ancient magical script, leaving Izabel completely bewildered and unable to understand what they were saying.

"Izebel's gone?" Professor Brod suddenly said. "He's lasted even longer than I expected!"

Albert indicated he didn't want to talk and continued to bury himself in finding problems for McDougall.

"If she wants to understand, or even participate, she'll definitely need to improve her level of ancient runes," McDougall said softly. "Izabel does need a little stimulation."

"Exciting?" Albert's lips twitched slightly as he changed the subject. "I feel like I still can't get past that hurdle. I always feel like something's missing, but I'm not sure what it is."

"Don't worry, once we finish writing this book, I'm sure you'll be able to grasp its secrets," McDougal assured him.

"I hope so." Albert sighed softly, took out his pocket watch and checked the time. It was almost 3:30 in the afternoon. "I have to go now. I have Apparition class later."

"I think you're wasting your time," Professor Brod said, shaking his head. "Apparition is too early for you right now."

"Listen more and learn more; it will always be useful!"

As Albert was about to leave, McDougal called out to him.

"What's wrong, Mr. McDoug?" Albert stopped and turned to ask.

McDougal then placed a small black notebook into Albert's hand and said softly, "I believe this notebook will be of help to you."

"Thank you." Albert stuffed the notebook into his pocket and turned to leave the office.

"You seem to think highly of him too," Professor Brod said with a smile, looking at his old friend. "Isn't he a better fit than expected?"

"It was indeed a pleasant surprise. She's talented and has a great personality," McDougall nodded. "However, it's too early to talk about these things now. We can discuss other things when she's an adult!"

Albert was unaware of their brief conversation and was on his way to the Great Hall. When he arrived, Tykroth was waving his wand, conjuring an old-fashioned wooden hoop for each student.

Albert quietly moved to a corner, so as not to disturb the others, and listened attentively to the other person's lecture.

"When using Phantom Manifestation, the most important thing is to remember the three 'd's." Tykroth emphasized the importance of goal, determination, and composure, which he always mentioned before starting each practice session.

"Now, please focus your attention on your goal..."

"Determine to occupy the space you desire," Albert murmured. "Enter a state of emptiness, and move with composure."

Albert was eager to try it himself. Even if he was split into two, it wouldn't matter. At most, he would be scolded by Professor McGonagall and lose a few points. If he could master the Apparition skill because of it, it would be a worthwhile investment.

Having learned from previous experiences, everyone kept a close eye on the wooden ring and quickly followed Tecros's instructions.

"one two three"

The "pop pop" sound of the phantoms appearing echoed in the hall.

Only a few people succeed, and even then, the landing location is not accurate enough, and they lose something from their bodies, such as a fingernail or a few strands of hair.

Of course, many more people simply spun around and fell to the ground, making the other spectators laugh.

There was also a poor guy who split up.

A Hufflepuff boy was suspended in mid-air, his lower body appearing a few feet in front of Albert.

The deans immediately gathered around him, and with a loud bang, after a cloud of purple smoke dissipated, the unfortunate man's body was put back on.

While the deans and others focused their attention on the Hufflepuff students, Albert also began to apparate, his target being an empty spot a few meters away.

Without rotating, Albert focused his attention on the target, imagining himself appearing at the target and entering a state of emptiness.

There was no sound of slapping. Albert remained silently in place, knowing he had failed.

However, Albert didn't care much, because he knew that failure was normal and no one could succeed on their first try.

Without the help of the control panel, he naturally didn't expect that.

Albert glanced at the skill panel but still couldn't find Phantom Appearance, which made him a little frustrated, even though it was within his expectations.

"That's it! Maybe this will work!" Albert suddenly remembered a very bold idea. If he could experience Apparition firsthand, he might be able to unlock a panel skill.

The small book-reading platform that book lovers used before is no longer available; now they are mostly using the Mimi Reading app.

"It's worth a try, but I don't know if anyone would be willing to help me," Albert muttered to himself. Although the chances weren't high, he was still prepared to give it a shot.

He immediately turned and walked toward the Defense Against the Dark Arts office.
